Once again, a government created crime wave, prohibition, resulted in yet another senseless gun law that deprives others of liberty. The whole idea of the 2nd amendment was to ensure liberty. How does one overthrow the tyrannical state that is armed to the teeth without equal firepower? That is where "shall not be infringed" comes in. Have you ever tried to find how many legally owned guns were actually used in a crime by their legal owner? Do you really think that felons will obey the law? The small hats are unleashing their pets on society, with the help of Soros backed district attorneys, to demoralize the population, so they will willingly give up their God given right to self defense. I don't believe in God so I don't believe in God given rights. The second was not about overthrowing our government, right? The 2nd was absolutely about overthrowing our government should it become corrupt and tyrannical. The founders knew that government always tends to become more tyrannical as time goes on. I'm sorry you don't believe in God.

The right to self defense is a natural right.
Yes, the second was about throwing off a tyrannical government, like this one that we have now.

Missouri, I agree with you a state is people, made up of and comprised of people, and free state is filled with free people. And perhaps you would also agree, that in the course of human history, there have been very few free states (based on the above definition(s)). Or, if initially so, did not last. The problem with freedom is when we begin to believe it is only OUR right. Government almost always trends in that direction if left unchecked ... as do bandits, either within or without government. True freedom requires the absolute support of its reciprical, practiced with personal responsibility. Freedom is not free. Nor is it safe. And its defense cannot be delegated. As I get older, Reagan makes more and more sense. There are those in America today who have come to depend absolutely on government for their security. And when government fails they seek to rectify that failure in the form of granting government more power. So, as government has failed to control crime and violence with the means given it by the Constitution, they seek to give it more power at the expense of the Constitution. But in doing so, in their willingness to give up their arms in the name of safety, they are really giving up their protection from what has always been the chief source of despotism—government. – 1975
Lord Acton said power corrupts. Surely then, if this is true, the more power we give the government the more corrupt it will become. And if we give it the power to confiscate our arms we also give up the ultimate means to combat that corrupt power. In doing so we can only assure that we will eventually be totally subject to it. When dictators come to power, the first thing they do is take away the people's weapons. It makes it so much easier for the secret police to operate, it makes it so much easier to force the will of the ruler upon the ruled. – 1975
(And along a current theme) One of the traditional methods of imposing statism or socialism on a people has been by way of medicine. It’s very easy to disguise a medical program as a humanitarian project. – 1961Nice quote, I doubt Ron wrote it but even still it is well written.

And still they keep the lights on and the wolves at bay Thank god I don't have to depend on them for that, I make my own money. A democrat is willing to trade liberty for some perceived idea of security. I don't blame them, most cannot fend for themselves in the physical world.

And still they keep the lights on and the wolves at bay I really don't think that THEY keep anything on or at bay. The system is on autopilot. Like the plane with a passed-out pilot, that keeps flying until it runs out of fuel. The passengers won't notice until the engines quit. Go with throttle up Brandon!

I don't like him because he is the other end of the same turd. Tough words about someone who has served and you have never met.

I suspect it was #9 that really upset that source.
Thing is, very few if any federal elected officials are on "my" side. The Republicans claim to be on my side and sometimes do good things. The Democrats claim to be on everyone's side and very rarely do good things. In reality neither party is on my side. The Democrats are, however, pushing an agenda that is intended to destroy me and my side entirely. The Republicans sometimes get in their way, sometimes help, and mostly tell me how much money I should give them to keep things from getting worse. They don't have a coherent agenda, so collectively they aren't my enemies, but not being my enemies doesn't make them my friends.
Is Congressman Crenshaw on "my" side? What's his EDC sidearm, and does he carry in the Capitol? Never seen either question asked, much less answered. If he doesn't, there's a vanishingly small chance he's actually on my side.
You don't have to carry a sidearm to be on my side, of course. There are other things I'd need to know to establish that he's truly on my side for that matter. However especially for someone like Crenshaw and in his position I think its a darn good litmus test.

A smart man said: Modified for Australia: Thing is, very few if any federal elected officials are on "my" side. The Conservatives claim to be on my side and sometimes do good things. Labor claims to be on everyone's side and very rarely do good things. In reality neither party is on my side. Labor is, however, pushing an agenda that is intended to destroy me and my side entirely. The Conservatives sometimes get in their way, sometimes help, and mostly tell me how much money Labor would waste when in power. They don't have a coherent agenda, so collectively they aren't my enemies, but not being my enemies doesn't make them my friends. The Liberal National Coalition (LNP) here roughly equates to 'conservative' but each passing year pushes them further left. PS: Many years ago, I was an office bearer in my local branch of the LNP.
