Ramble as much as you will. We all do our share of that, while hopefully sharing something worthwhile within. I think that the CCP is well aware of their history and what has happened to previous rulers when "the cycles" have hit ... and the people have withdrawn "the mandate of heaven". We will see how efficient they are in dealing with the new one ... and yes, I am hedging that a new set of low cycles are upon us ... and our climate(s) will be cooler and more variable for awhile. If I am wrong, I will embrace a more pleasant climate and will not be sorry that I was wrong. If I am right, I may be more prepared, but may not be very happy. I'll have to take lessons from Code on how to be happy in the snow. Good clothing, layered. Start with a high quality base layer, preferable synthetic. If I want to go out and just put one thing over a tee shirt in sub zero weather, I have an old sheep skin coat, its bulky but so efficiently warm.

Good clothing, layered. Start with a high quality base layer, preferable synthetic. Yep. Learned that in Alaska in additional to wool. But after the novelty wore off in about four years, I started to get less happy. My preferred solution would be to follow spring north and south but the budget and family have had different preferences. Actually the snow wasn't so bad. It was the minus 40+ F that did me in. Ah, so it was Summer time eh?

I'll have to take lessons from Code on how to be happy in the snow. That is very good advice from Code, 'how to be happy in the snow.' It is what I've always done with any kind of adverse weather. Not everyone is convinced "Research conducted by the Office of the Washington State Climatologist found that the second of a consecutive La Niña winter, which is what Washington state "could" see this year, actually trends cooler and wetter in the early part of the season, including October, November and December before weakening somewhat in the new year." komonews.com/weather/western-washington-could-see-la-nia-winter-this-season

According to Astromet we are 17 days away from the start of a brutal winter. I don't know how cold it will be but one thing is for certain. It's going to feel a lot colder for those people in Europe who can't afford to heat their homes. It seems like the perfect storm is brewing with food and fuel shortages combined with a particularly cold winter.
