Hi Astro, Do you expect this La Nina to last through till year end? Neil Hi Neil, and yes, La Nina into autumn 2022 in the northern hemisphere and this winter and next spring in the southern hemisphere. As of now, you will see La Nina being said to 'weaken,' and yes, it will, a bit, due to the Sun's position, however, this La Nina is the 'double-dip' La Nina I forecast for this time well over a decade ago for our present time now and there's more to come, here in 2022. The weather phenomenon La Nina, which has affected global temperatures and worsened drought and flooding, is still with us. According to the pinheads at the United Nations, they are worried that La Nina remains persistent into 2022 and now the U.S. accepts my prior forecast for a long triple-dip like La Nina. La Nina refers to the large-scale cooling of surface temperatures in the central and eastern equatorial Pacific Ocean, occurring every two to seven years. The UN's World Meteorological Organization (WMO) said there was a 70 percent chance that the protracted La Nina event—which has held the globe in its clutches almost uninterrupted since September 2020—will continue until at least August 2022. "Some long-lead predictions even suggest that it might persist into 2023," it said in a statement. If it does, this would be only the third so-called triple-dip La Nina—meaning the phenomenon is present during three consecutive northern hemisphere winters—on record since 1950, WMO said. The effect has widespread impacts on weather around the world—typically the opposite impacts to the El Nino phenomenon, which has a warming influence on global temperatures. Some plants up here in the PNW are loving the rain, my tomatoes not so much. After all the rain earlier in the year, we've had a week or more of relatively dry weather. The MSM is probably preparing drought stories as I type.

June 2022: If anyone cares to notice, the estimated global 2m temperature anomaly is today only 0,1 Celsius higher than the 1979-2000 average. Can anyone say 'Global Cooling?' I can.

I'm sure it's just a twitch in Mother Nature's fickle finger of warming. Although here in Portugal, the temps have been very pleasantly in the low 20s C. Not sure how that stacks up to normal, but seems that I can see the Elven boats sailing off to the West here in the Algarve, while Sauron and his orcs are growling off in the East, and the tribes of men and dwarves hold the passes. The daughters of Butch refuse to join without a Woke platitude,.

Very pleasant ... variably cloudy ... a few showers. Grains might not ripen very well if those were the maximums. I am searching for a place with winter temps reliably in the 20s C.
