This winter has been strange. For most of the U.S. November and December were well above normal. Most of January was below normal and it is quite likely February will start off very warm and end very cold. Parts of Scandinavia, Russia and China have had brutal arctic outbreaks as well. The jet stream has had a very meridional pattern this winter with warm intrusions pushing further north with periodic outbreaks of arctic air plunging south. |
