Missouriboy, Picked them up in Medford, OR. I think at Jackson Perkins. 50 gal blue food grade. J.P. may be out of business. Sig, Thanks for the info. I thought that if I could keep air and moisture out and use oxygen eaters all would be ok. Didn't think of temp swings. Burlap sacks hard to find around here but it makes more sense but how long storage can I expect? My grain bins are steel. The condensation issue is overcome by air circulation. Each bin has plenum and a fan to overcome this. Burlap bags can be ordered on the internet. Here, we have bag companies because of potatoes.

Thanks Sig. We've got lots of small cattle operations and meat processors around these parts. The guy I bought mine from only sells directly to a limited number of people so as to avoid the federal regulations on larger operations. He also cuts and bails hay from several farms in these parts. This year's heiffer is, I believe, the best I've ever tasted. Part of his diet was native grasses straight off our farm ... then topped off with home grown corn.

We used to be scornful of our grass feed meats in NZ and now everyone pays a premium for it. A secret that we enjoyed and now those farmers are taking it from us, sorry Sig.
Speaking of people where is Naut??
One of our most esteemed participants.
