Thank You.
You have corn 5 years old. Open a bag. IF you detect ANY type of musty odor, tread with caution. Take a pint to a local elevator. Have them check moisture. To safely store corn that long, moisture level would need to be sub 12%. Wheat for short storage is 13.5%. 9 months or so. Longer term, below 11% is desirable. The game changer is newer storage with air flow, for both commodity. The mold sniff test is effective for both.

Its worth remembering the cost of food products has fallen steadily for the entire period since WW2.
We in NZ had our best ever year during the Korean war. Its not food but indicative wool got to "a pound a pound" so for perspective after 30 fold inflation and 70 years its now only 50% higher.
This countries GDP was 30% wool as was the impact on lamb beef dairy. Countries such as NZ, Australia the US etc will be hugely advantaged by a material fall in Agricultural output and consequent price rice it is an elastic commodity so it could be wild. A side outcome would be the unwinding of Alcohol for fuel rubbish and real pressure on obesity. We could all eat 20% less on average.
I don't see a problem I see sanity returning to the world. Admittedly adjustment will cause a bit of hand wringing.

Well Sig it's your time to make some money.
My prediction is that food wastage will fall from the reported 30% to 20% and the "all you can eat" industry will be gone.
Where is the downside.
Oh yes Type 2 may take a dip, big pharma will be deeply depressed.

Here is an interesting little tool and visualizer. Look at a graphical timeseries of the drought monitor for different regions. Select High Plains and note the sync with solar cycle. Too bad it only goes back to 2000.

Food supply problems to hit Europe too. And the Greens continue to ban planting on lands designated for rewilding.
There are whole areas of formerly small family farms (1850 - 1950) around Columbia that have gone back to forest. We have already rewilded as farm families moved to town since the war. Still lots of pasture land and cows though. Nice thing about native grasses. They don't need nor like much fertilizer.

Greg Peterson who specializes on farm equipment auctions was on BNN about skyrocketing used equipment prices. For example a 20 year old combine that originally sold for 70 grand recently sold for over double that price.
