They seem to pick and choose their places. It certainly wasn't the hottest year on record around here ... by a long shot. I don't think that Western Europe was setting records based on the reports I saw. Question: If you look hard enough, can you find a record somewhere? Basicly any year? Then just ignore all the other places. Targeted science that isn't.

The problem is that they are not even using the actual data from their existing modern stations. Un-adjusted surface temp data shows cooling over the last several years.

so no climate change in 83 years I am two decades short of counting for climate. But my utility useage (gas and electric) tracks Middle Earth winters and summers pretty good. I have an outdoor heat pump and a natural gas furnace. Heat pump electricity useage is my proxy for summer heat and natural gas consumpution is my proxy for winter cold. Summer heat peaked in 2016 and 2017 ... and has been declining since. Natural gas useage had been increasing slightly in cycles since 2010, till February 2021 blew every other month away. Can't wait to see 2021-22.

The only thing left is air conditioner efficiency over time. How many pounds of freon, condensor and fan, filters. Sorry to belabor this issue but I am submitting your data to NOAA tomorrow.
edit- heat pump, I guess that changes things some

No UAH Lower Troposphere monthly temperature anomaly for the USA (Lower 48 States) for 2020-21 is a record anything. NODA, Nichts, Kaput, Tot.

They're saying the same thing in UK, but I've barely worn shorts this year and never bothered getting sandals out 🤷🏼♂️
