Yes highs in the 80s here with some cloud cover and occasional rain next week. Still loving this new "climate" (dare I call it that?)
The -15 low in February also killed some of the insects. I am thinking- many, many tons of biomass is missing this year.

It's because so many people have changed their diets to include insects. Obvious.

A whole wheelbarrow full of rain overnight. That's my new metric. They (NWS) say I'm flooded. But my little incised drainage came up fast and went down fast. Not much of a drainage basin. I can tell how much there was from how far out in the little bottom the grass was flattened. Hills are nice! 5PM. We are now setting up for round 2. Got almost 6 inches last night. Radar is looking busy. Small severe cells are tracking north and south.

The operable hypothesis is that the tropical heat engine is declining, and the surface pressure at the descending edge of the Hadley cells is lowering the Arctic-subtropical gradient, allowing the jet streams to meander in long north-south waves. We are getting air masses from the Canadian praires, and you are getting air masses from the southwestern deserts. Fear not MacCode, till phoenix doth come to Seattle. Check out dem loops in nullschool. You won't see those in summers under high solar conditions. Somebody please find me an exception. I grabbed an image of this one. earth.nullschool.net/#current/wind/isobaric/500hPa/orthographic=-81.14,49.96,502

The rain train is embedded in the same location and does not want to move. Over 8 inches here for June so far and more coming. Not a record. That was set in 1928 with almost 15 inches. This will be the 9th June since 1890 with over 8 inches of rain.
