Thanks MB so basically an acoustic velocity/conductivity thing. And another source of heat in the Pacific.

Solar Cycle 25 sunspots continued to go up in June, and are now slightly higher than SC24 or SC12 at the same point in the cycle. We will see if they turn over in July.

Mish [Mike Shedlock] made a comment that the Biden administration was thinking about geoblocking sunlight. I made the following comment:
"That sort of idea [probably spreading gas or dust at low orbitals] is incredibly dangerous.
If CAGW theory is wrong, could possibly accelerate any cyclical cooling, with horrible consequences.
For the record, I think cooling has already started. Try looking at the Greenland Surface Mass Balance this year."

Early days Doug re the cooling, but fingers crossed, if they wanted to block sunlight use space positioned infltatable spheres so they can be removed if to successful, but who is going to want to be cooler, not here in NZ thank you.

Just going to be a massive pendant Mr.M. Running smoothed data to the present, the current peak may be smoothed out should activity subside in the next 12 months? Sunspots have migrated very much nearer the solar equator in recent months, I continue to feel there's not much left for this cycle....

Comparing the N/S hemispheres from 24 to 25. 24 hemispheres were very much separated in activity even at a similar stage of the cycle In 25 we see very similar levels in both hemisphere The recent uptick in activity represented in the graphing is more due to a sustained consistent level then a peak/trough output (earth facing....obviously....the far side activity is not accounted for in our observational data!) Though a strong peak/trough is most recently present. This peak/trough data is often because one part of the sun is most active, present earth facing at a peak in activity graph, farside at trough. This can be seen in the orderly periodic nature of the peaks and troughs. Recently the solar activity seemed more uniform. Please correct me if I'm wrong, but many smaller spots seemed to me to be forming nearer the equator than singular larger spots such as 3354 currently heading out to the west limb

And now, perhaps someone will (tell us) postulate how these differences impact the energy gradient on Earth. The following is a monthly, annual and 22-year running summary of northern and southern hemisphere sunspots. There appears to have been a shift from an increasing northern hemisphere sunspot concentration that peaked about SC19-SC20, to an increasing southern hemisphere concentration since.

There are others that seem to agree with your "short" assessment for SC25 Acid ... including some Chinese scientists.

let a thousand flowers bloom A phrase encouraging the simultaneous existence of many ideas or things. The phrase (originally "let a hundred flowers bloom") was used by Chinese head of state Mao Zedong in 1956 to allow criticism of the Chinese government. For how long after Mao Zedong urged people to "let a thousand flowers bloom" was criticism actually accepted?
It is said he later changed it to ... "let a hundred flowers bloom" ... but tell those dandelions to STFU. And it was so.
