This thread may be a short one if winter weather starts early. Although technically we have until December 21. And starting it off. The Central-Western Med is getting hammered by torential rains. Mediterranean climate supposedly has wetter winters, but I have seen no timeseries of precipitation by season. Let me guess this will be a wet one if the jet is wandering this far south this early. Italy sets new European 12-hour rainfall record (3 days ago)
The day started with 496 mm (19.5 inches) of rain in just 6 hours registered in Cairo Montenotte, Province of Savona, Liguria, breaking the country's 6-hour rainfall record of 472 mm (18.6 inches) set in 2011.1 In just 12 hours, the same storm system dropped 740.6 mm (29.1 inches) of rain in Rossiglione, 13 km (22 miles) E of Cairo Montenotte, in the Province of Genova, Liguria, setting a new European 12-hour rainfall record. That's more than half of the average rainfall the region gets in a year -- 1 270 mm (50 inches). watchers.news/2021/10/06/italy-sets-new-12-hour-european-rainfall-record-october-2021/Flash floods hit Marseille after 2 months' worth of rain overnight, France (4 days ago)watchers.news/2021/10/05/marseille-flood-rain-october-2021-france/Extremely heavy rain hits capital Ljubljana, SloveniaExtremely heavy rains hit parts of Slovenia on September 29, 2021, flooding more than 500 buildings in the capital Ljubljana alone. I live PNW in SW Oregon [ Myrtle Creek ]. I'm trying to log our property and usually we have to end of October before rain happens. Not this year we had to shut down 3 times as the Cat could not git up the hill. We have another storm moving in today[Sunday] and that will shut things down for this Fall. If Theo is correct I may not be able to finish until late June. So much for global warming. It's been a very cool Summer as well. Stay warm this Fall and Winter.

Has been warm and dry in Upper Midwest. Geese must have noticed, as no flocks of consequence observed.
My winter prediction is cold and snow up here.

And La Nina is supposed to be dryer than normal in the Pacific NW? Well ... we just passed the minor hill between negative Enso Region SSTAs. From east to west, weekly values are 1+2 = -0.7, 3 = -0.8, and 4 = -0.6.

Over 90 inches of rain this year to date at my house in Waveland, Mississippi. Of course that includes three tropical systems. Cool front blowing through this weekend. Highs predicted in the mid 70s. Glorious. My bees are making beaucoup honey.
