If China is a leader in advanced manufacturing they have a real implementation problem - even on their high-end stuff, their quality control is STILL terrible.

I'd like to pile on, but I find that for the money, Chinese tools are usually the better value. I buy a lot of tools. Their quality has come a LONG way in 20 years, to the point that many are very good indeed. They used to get knocked for metallurgy, heat treating etc. I still like Dewalt drill bits for metal, but about everything else Chinese is good. We've worked the hell out of large Chinese generators, welders, pumps, and we use a lot of Chinese hand tools.

As they grow, they will face the same pressures to pay their people an actual salary, like we do. I think that China is in a very slow motion collapse. It will take years, but their downfall is self-moderating their chances of success. I didn't know that about their video cards

Something is off and has been off. Chinese stock indexes have been going down for many years. That is not normal for a healthy, successful economy. And their population is collapsing. Even a 3% decline in population would be very harmful. China's looks to be much worse than that.

China's looks to be much worse than that. but yet again your comparing china against western values ..there not western ... they have seen the decline so now they can have as many children as they want .. raised the limit .. stock indexes ??do they care anything about stock no .. it's only there for the westerners and the influx of there money .. successful economy ??they don't even care about there own people as long as there fed and they have something to do .. the only thing i can see happening is them stopping the bleed to India and bouncing back .. by producing more cheaper goods ..until there next plan comes into action .. Africa .. as the world turns cold they have bought enough land to feed there people ..there and Australia there planning 50 yrs into the future but people don't see it .. as the us breaks down (over spending ) and russia can't keep up there set to take the front line ..

Economically speaking
The US has problems. The UK and Europe have larger problems. China has huge problems. Russia is screwed...
India, Mexico and Brazil are on the way up.
