Hello all from zaphod. I joined the cycle24 board years ago, and did not post much even then as I did not and do not have the expertise of most of you. I've been motivated to have a read again and join the new board because of the hysteria following the latest IPCC announcements that "GW" is "unequivocally A". I noticed the comment about Kevin's interest in the board. I am one of the radio hams on the site, but have to say that I do not use the Solarcycle24 main solar data page so much since Kevin seems to have possibly automated it, changed it and stopped adding personal commentary and observations in the way that he did. The data is all available elsewhere and it is not a page I keep open in my Propagation webpages any more. So I checked Proboards less often. I am unlikely to post very much but I appreciate what you all have to say and I believe thr forum to be very valuable. Welcome Zaphod! Is your last name Beeblebrox? BTW, lack of expertise doesn’t stop any of us from posting here.

As a radio ham, you could discuss topics that several of us have voiced interest in. I for one have been thinking about becoming one. Times acomin when it it may be very useful. Perhaps you could give us some tips.

G'day all, as the name suggests, I'm a farmer in Australia, so interested in the weather. During the end of cycle 24 we had a bushfire and then very bad drought and that got me looking into solar activity. Inigo Jones' work was the local starting point but that led to many places, including here. What staggered me was the wealth of information out there, but the absolute lack of any acknowledgement by the 'respectable' meteorologists (sic?) and absolute rejection by our BOM. This led to asking why some science is accepted, while other science is rejected. Down the rabbit hole we go.....

The Sun neither pays wages, nor passes out grants in quantities large enough to attract today's ethically-deficient, institutionalized Highwaymen. But, as always, farmers are natural observers, who generally see through (or seriously question) the AGW paradigm. We need as many farmers as we can get calling BS.

Hello,
I used to read the posts from you guys over on the solar cycle 24 board but never signed up. I followed reading the posts over here when yall were moving here to the current board.
I finally decided to join to ask a few questions when needed. I like the info that is posted on this board, and I find a lot of it very interesting. I agree with most of the stuff I understand on here anyways. Some of the charts I do not know how to read in regards to some of the weather phenomenon, but I am a farmer and never had any experience reading those types of charts. This is a good place for information and thank yall for what yall do provide.

We also run cattle and bale hay. We do all the major agricultural crops for our area besides rice. I run a family operation with my parents and 2 brothers. We are about 40 miles southwest of Houston. I used to work in a couple chemical plants but quit the plants in 2018 to farm full time.

Well I hope you get some good yields over the next few years. I'm thinking that prices should be higher for farm products. I'm stocking up on "cow parts" and as long as my freezers stay running, we should be good. Otherwise I'll have to go back to canning meat like my father's family did. And my current canning knowledge does not match theirs. There's always squirrels and deer as well.

Field storage is very good. At university the student flats with resourceful farm boys fertilized and mowed the lawns with sheep and then consumed them. Eat fast no freezer. Just a different model MB

We are hoping prices can stay a little higher. They are still not terrible especially compared to the last few years. Prices have been dropping, however, but I think some of the price decline is due to seasonality.
I am definitely more concerned for how high inputs may go next year. A lot of times it seems if we make an extra dollar, someone is going to want $.95-$1.02 extra from us depending what they can squeeze out.

Just a different model MB Sounds good. But I may need an intestinal expansion ... or raise a breed of pigmy sheep. Or expand my extended family. New brand ... Small sheep for small stomachs. I could raise sheep on the old homestead too, but then I'd have to live there to shoot the coyotes or two-legged poachers. OK, so new business plan ... get the government to pay me to temporarily resettle a rural Afgan family who know sheep.
