Abstract
Data availability and temporal resolution make it challenging to unravel the anatomy (duration and temporal phasing) of the Last Glacial abrupt climate changes. Here, we address these limitations by investigating the anatomy of abrupt changes using sub-decadal-scale records from Greenland ice cores. We highlight the absence of a systematic pattern in the anatomy of abrupt changes as recorded in different ice parameters. This diversity in the sequence of changes seen in ice-core data is also observed in climate parameters derived from numerical simulations which exhibit self-sustained abrupt variability arising from internal atmosphere-ice-ocean interactions. Our analysis of two ice cores shows that the diversity of abrupt warming transitions represents variability inherent to the climate system and not archive-specific noise. Our results hint that during these abrupt events, it may not be possible to infer statistically-robust leads and lags between the different components of the climate system because of their tight coupling.

New fight coming.
Satellites may have underestimated warming in the lower atmosphere
But of course they did, Mr. Moboy! The temperatures must always be adjusted upward! Why am I not surprised?

But of course they did, Mr. Moboy! The temperatures must always be adjusted upward! Why am I not surprised? Probably about the same reason(s) I don't. But I didn't see the specifics in this article. Just generalities. Saying it makes it so in today's science it seems.

I figured this thread was as good as any to post this complaint. One of our local TV stations, the NBC affiliate posted this story yesterday. Pacific Northwest is in a snow drought: what that means and a look at the numberswww.king5.com/article/weather/pacific-northwest-snow-drought/281-9bfa3f88-c7be-4598-827a-c473265d1ed1Looking at the numbers I am skeptical. Most of our state is in the 90's for snow/water equivalent and oddly the only natural rain forest in the entire country is low, but the numbers overall don't look too bad.

Having watched the pressure setups and the atmospheric river tracks, looks to me like the systems have mostly been tracking and coming ashore south of you.

A lot of people will read this but will not initially believe it and will either try to reproduce it or try to do experiments to prove it wrong," said Nizkorodov. "There will be many lab experiments following up on this for sure." phys.org/news/2023-04-scientists-earth-atmosphere.html

You have captured the essence of the whole "shebang" right there Ratty. Shebang is often used as a noun ... but it has the ring of a good Irish word ... and is really a verb ... meaning when "she" is upset, there will be a "bang". And as "she" drifts, so goes history. Kipling was right ( www.poetry.com/poem/33429/the-female-of-the-species). The climate assault teams seem to have a woman or two in their midst. When the price of household essentials rises to the stratosphere, what will be the drift of "shebang"? Who is portrayed as leading that French Lot? When the politicians say "cooperate or perish", what they really mean is "obey or else". Those who stand in the way of "or else" have often been called patriots ... if they survive. The bulk of history is written by the survivors.
