I couldn't watch this in Europe either until I put it thru VPN America. Was it something we said? Very touchy. We should keep doing it.

Last major was January 1700. Some nervousness detected on the Richter Scale too?

Last major was January 1700. Some nervousness detected on the Richter Scale too? it's a coming boss .... The ramifications of the next major "slip" of the CSZ are incredible. On average, it is overdue and in geologic time it is imminent. Like California, the PNW was virtually uninhabited and completely undeveloped for all previous events. I do not believe there is a preparedness plan that can cope with the magnitude of what this next inevitable event will cause.

We in NZ sit on the same risk.
We have a 300K city which has a risk of a 9 magnitude earthquake right now. In fact overdue by some decades.
there are reports that 20 to 40K will die and the city will not be usable for a decade, regardless we agonize over an average sea level rise of 1.41mm/yr demanding immediate action.
It is also the capital city and seat of parliament. recently slow earthquakes have been show to be moving well. Problem is the city sits in a region between said slow slip earthquakes that is stuck.
the bright side, would the US survive the complete devastation of Washington DC. Outside of the tragedies of people dying probably much better, and so will NZ.

We could elect a whole new crop of representatives and place them in a nice central rural area where they can be closely watched. NO Federal agency would be resurrected without a unanimous vote of the States that includes the recipe to fund them. We would be much better off. No money ... no bunga bunga.
