Unless there is a plan in place it seems this is a shit show. I would love to hear thoughts from the brain trust on this.

I think there is a plan, but I don't think it comes from the Republicans.

But here we're a rabble in arms.

I was surprised by the Dems calculus of voting for the removal of McCarthy. The next Speaker will be less likely to negotiate with Ukraine aid, and be more willing to start a government shut down.
Many dem candidates are struggling in the polls, and perhaps the strategy is to use this, as a political football for the 2024 elections. Additionally, if aid to Ukraine fails to pass, Dems feel they can blame Republicans. I can picture something along the lines of 'Ukraine was winning, until Republicans reduced or stopped aid.'
Going forward, The Freedom Caucus is unwaivering. They are not afraid of a shutdown. There will likely be many rounds of votes before selecting the next speaker. Instead of a big CR that throws spending of many different areas together, they want to vote on each spending issue seperately.

McCarthy wanted the job and took it knowing what he was in for. Gaetz never made any bones about his position. Something had to give. McCarthy apparently didn't believe Gaetz would do what he said he would do when it came down to it. Well he did and now the extremely narrow Republican majority has to figure out a way forward knowing there is a group larger than their slim margin that is willing to fight the RINOs. I have no idea how this will turn out but "going along to get along" isn't going to be acceptable to the Constitutionalists. My "Republican" congressmen is a classic RINO and I despise him. I'm sure he is grieving over this. If he's not happy than it's probably not bad for the Republic.

McCarthy was a Rino and part of the big magic show which we have all been deceived by for the last 50 years. But while Gaetz caucus has enough political strength to destroy, it probably does not have enough power to build. At 33 trillion I don't really care about their formalities anymore, something has to be done immediately.
I think that long term bonds are already responding to 33 trillion and I'm wondering how far they drop. They bounced this morning, is the rout finished finally? I doubt it.

MMT is and always has been a lie. The end of the hoax is inevitable and I fear everyone worldwide is going to pay for it. The US is not the only country attempting to borrow itself out of debt.

I want to congratulate them for keeping the shell game going this long. I think that you could make money buying the long term bonds though, because I think that if stocks come back down, long term bonds are going to bounce significantly. Especially if the fed drags QE back out. Half-baked theory #57...

"Single Subject Spending Bills" SHOULD BE REQUIRED ... no matter how long it takes. Everyone needs to go on record on every single subject. No more hiding in their tax payer funded party palaces. Fox holes may be required ... but they will be noticed ... and should be vacated with force. The party is over ... one way or the other.

The American people do not want a government shutdown period the end. It did not work in 2013 when Ted Cruz tried it, it won't work in November. The Republicans will own it and all the Democrats have to do is say the Republicans shut it down they can reopen it anytime they want.
There are far too many government employees and contracts and as the American people start to feel the pain the more they will turn on the Republicans. A shutdown is not an effective strategy and if they are stupid enough to try it again in November they will pay at the polls.
Yes we have deep seated, serious over spending issues. But shutting down the government is not an affective method of dealing with those issues. It backfired the last time it was tried it will backfire again. That is the reality of it...
Our duly elected leaders extended the debt ceiling in 2017, 2018 and 2019 during the Trump administration so it is not like the Republicans have been the model of fiscal responsibility when they were in power either.
