Have they factored in Hunga Tonga-Hunga Ha'apai?

Eric Snodgrass has some interesting takes on the teleconnection lags concerning this El Niño. He seems to think the pattern will change the last half of September and all of October.

Eric Snodgrass has some interesting takes on the teleconnection lags concerning this El Niño. He seems to think the pattern will change the last half of September and all of October. These graphics show your blistering heat Glenn ... and our very reasonable temperatures in the Midwest about 3 minutes into the video. Looks like a cooler blob of Arctic(?) air parked over the interior and northern plains in early-mid August. One has to believe that the source of this cooler air is from the north, via a longitudinal wave. Unfortunately, I don't have a time series to compare to 2012, which was the same point in SC24. It was very hot in the July-Aug time frame and broke down just about this time.

This is a marvelous video from Eric Snodgrass. Put out June 22. Even includes Hunga Tonga.

QBO has behaved a bit odd last couple phases. The above article prompted me to check progress as I hadn't for months (years??) The last 2 positive phases started to oscillate negative, before reverting to positive again leaving a notch in the peak. Not seen before but now its done it twice!

Just for interest... In UK, our September warmth (HEAT!!!) was last seen on 3 occasion, late 1800s and 1911. Yes, its taken 120 years to best historic September records. See what the sun was doing during those hot times...
