It was beautiful today ... 60F in direct sun. Inspected the gardening. Second year flowering perennials have gotten their late fall growth spurt. Large patches of Dames Rocket (Hesperis - pink flowers and clove fragrence) and the 1880s onion. Small bulbs but very aggressive (the Huns). Have to keep them broken up for other plants to grow. Flowering ground covers looking healthy too. Stressed all summer but hanging on in great style. Sixth year apple trees getting bigger. The edible garden is expanding. If I have to use it I expect grumbling.

In the plains Indian languages, squaw meant "she who kills with many tools".

We're not having much of a winter this winter, but I don't mind sharing my sunrise from this morning with you. I sat shirtless sipping coffee while watching ... as I do for most sunrises these days. I'm still working, but covid has changed our work environment so that I no longer travel. I thought I'd hate that, but I'm getting to a stage in life where it's been pretty nice, especially since I can do my job from anywhere and covid fixed it so I no longer have any expectation of showing up in an office. I probably mentioned a bit about it on here, but I had a couple of brushes with my own mortality this last decade, then lost the first Mrs. SLH ... and being a white Cherokee by blood, but Korean by culture due to 30 years of being married to the first Mrs. SLH, I didn't much know what to do in that situation ... until the second Mrs. SLH met me, and she is also Korean. That was comfortable. She ran restaurants her entire adult life, and is a very fine chef. She retired about a year and a half ago which bodes well for my quality of life, but with her move, we were able to start snowbirding early. So here we are, with me sitting shirtless to watch the sunrise on Thanksgiving week, and just enjoying life while learning another language and culture - something we both love. The debate will rage on, I'm sure. I'm not emotionally involved with it at all. I'll still be cantankerous, but temps are good for us, and I'm enjoying it a lot Good to see you guys are still here and arguing

What part of the world, Mr SLH? PS: There is discussion here, never arguing.

PS: There is discussion here, never arguing. Winter home is near Cancun, Mexico, and my sunrise is overlooking the Mexican Caribbean. Now don't take away my wordplay with "argument." (See how I'm starting an argument already? )

Given your Nat gas situation, I hope you guys stay warm ... but !!! After September, October and November have held off ... but?

ocean.dmi.dk/arctic/meant80n.uk.phpThis is the first time for a while that winter Arctic temperatures have been back to the long term average. What happened to all that [melting] Arctic Ice?!
