That's OK for me, I love a bit of a chilly winter! Ice, frost, snow, bring it on! However, very happy for you slh, looks idilic, enjoy š Have you come up with any alternative home-heating techniques? Upcoming NAO for this winter may hold some possibilities.Ā Given your Nat gas situation, I hope you guys stay warm ... but !!!Ā After September, October and November have held off ... but? So far, we've all acquired oodie's. Our heating system has rf actuator/stat on each rad (honeywell evohome). So far we only have towel rads in bathrooms on an hour a day and 2 rooms downstairs to 15Ā°c in the a.m. for a bit. House is well insulated with 150mm filled cavity which is 50mm more than standard. 400mm insulation in loft.

Good one Sig. That Congressional Climate Committee needs to start preparing to systematically unmask the climate criminals and the so-called settled science.

A clone or two might be handy.

Some one is forecasting a monster negative NAO for the first half of December.

I excitedly post stuff like this every winter, and nothing really happens.
So, here we are again! The evolution to this is in a 3 day time frame, we'll see....
This shows high pressure (blocking, yellow) to Greenland by next weekend.

A Beast from the East for the Energy Challenged. If sometime this winter 2009-10 is cloned. Here it was 2010-11 when we got much more snow than usual. But the jet stream southward plunge started further west. Hope you cousins don't go broke trying to keep the house warm. If they shut off my natural gas, things could get dicey. Lots of sleeping bags and blankets ... and water shut off to keep the pipes from freezing. I excitedly post stuff like this every winter, and nothing really happens. So, here we are again! The Great Beast seems to be loading up. Will he pull the trigger?

Eric Snodgrass has pointed this out as well. East Coast US and Europe look very, very cold in early December.

Heard "not seen such potential since 2010 for december" a few times.
We're not at certainty yet....but its getting closer.

I don't fear at all for the US but Europe that's different. Ultimately an energy pinch increases the competitiveness of the US and a few others, but the rest?

prices go up that's all really.
Sig you know if you reduce fertilizer use by 30% the drop in production is quite small especially for the first season.
I think we will discover the best cure for worldwide obesity. Just distribution to consider.

Well.....once the BBC add it to their forecast you know the chances are high, they do not say anything that might put egg on their faces (meteorolically wise anyway)
