Conservation concerns cancel Alaska’s Bering snow, king crab seasons Oct. 10, 2022 at 8:00 pm Updated Oct. 10, 2022 at 8:16 pm www.seattletimes.com/seattle-news/environment/conservation-concerns-cancel-alaskas-bering-snow-king-crab-seasons/“ I am struggling for words. This is so unbelievable that this is happening,” said Jamie Goen, executive director of the Alaska Bering Sea Crabbers. “We have third-generation fishermen who are going to go out of business.” “(Owners of) vessels are having to make choices, and with little or no income: some will sell, some will go bankrupt and others will defer maintenance. Safety concerns will only increase as we lose longtime, experienced crew in crab fisheries that know how to keep people safe on deck,” Goen wrote in a Sept. 30 letter to council chair Simon Kinneen.
Price online is now $55 a pound and I think the annual family Christmas Seafood feast may not include King Crab this year.

The Food Crisis Of 2023 Is Going To Be Far Worse Than Most People Would Dare To Imagine Note that the extreme Left is Death. Death follows famine, war and conquest.

Dr Robert Malone on agriculture, volcanoes and stockpiling. He's a medical sort, but has lots of interests.
Are you a Grasshopper or an Ant?
Planning for this winter and spring.

Sig, have you noticed any diesel shortages yet? I've been hearing about it for 6-9 months, and I saw a report this morning a report that there is only an inventory of 25 days left. It would explain the widening price gap between gasoline and diesel. I don't really get it. Diesel is one of the first cuts in the refining process (or so I thought), thus I thought it was an easier product to refine. A diesel shortage would certainly have a negative impact on ag production!

I am sure that those who really believe this will be the very first to volunteer to remove themselves from the gene pool, thus eliminating part of the problem. It would be the right thing to do. I know they are shy, and don't wish to take all the credit or anything ... so we would be happy to help them out. They can have a staring role in the remake of that classic film, "Soylent Green".

I'm sure it's affected by heating oil season.

There will be plenty to eat if you can afford it.

A diesel shortage would certainly have a negative impact on ag production! If you "crack" diesel oil into gasoline, you get something like a 20% increase in volume ( more barrels). This allows one to sell the upgraded product (gasoline) at a lower price and still cover the extra costs. But withstanding that, the current premium for diesel is unusually large. Refining capacity is very tight.

There will be plenty to eat if you can afford it. And therein lies the problem in many places. Expect discontent.
