Not an optimistic video at all: People in the West don't understand Russia. Russia had 27,000,000 people die in WW2. They don't give up if they feel the "Motherland" is in peril. The question becomes, "Why is another war being discussed already?"

The question becomes, "Why is another war being discussed already?" There is no fiercer fighter on earth than a Russian defending the Motherland. With that being said they have not demonstrated this tenacity in battle away from home. Finland gave them all they wanted during the Winter War in 1939 and more recently in Afghanistan they did not do so well. I’m not so sure Putin has convinced the Russian people this war is about defending the Motherland.

An offensive military maneuver is so much harder then defense.
Russia lacks the logistics to conduct effective offense.
It's easy to see in the last 75 years how badly its gone for invading armies against supposedly inferior oponents.

We continue to see more reality being slowly inserted the western mainstream media. NYT below article talks about the very heavy Ukrainian losses and morgues being packed. They further mention how Ukraine is outnumbered in equipment and soldiers, and how Russia is advancing. What happened to all the Ukrainians that were constantly mobilized and conscripted since this conflict began? How are they outnumbered after having the largest land army in Europe, and Ukrainian government officials boasting about mobilizing 1 million civilians back in May? How are they so outnumbered in equipment? www.nytimes.com/2023/02/06/world/europe/ukraine-russia-offensive.html?smid=tw-nytimes&smtyp=cur

But the West will make the cost so high it will send them back to the stone age. The future does not look so good for Russia. Especially their oil and gas industry that was so heavily supported by Western companies.

Especially their oil and gas industry that was so heavily supported by Western companies. The gold standard of economic forecasters disagree with Zeihan, as well as yourself. I would also encourage you to look back at some of his previous videos of what he thought was happening in Ukraine's prior 'offensives' and different takes on this conflict. Zeihan states Russia is losing 3 to 4 soldiers for ever one Ukrainian. He is unsure if Ukraine can get it to 5:1. The real ratio is 8 Ukrainians for every Russian. This is a 1150 percent difference (averaging 3:1,4:1). When real casualty numbers are released by the west, think back to this. My prediction: The Ruble has depreciated historically VS. the US Dollar: This will no longer be the case going forward. Russia's economy will grow faster than the USA's and all countries in the EU within several years. And if you have the subjective view that China is a monster now, just wait to see the effect of the limitless supply of metals, minerals, and fossil fuels has on the manufacturing capital of the world.

Russia ran out of missiles and ammunition in March. Russian soldiers are either dead, do not know they are fighting in Ukraine, or are refusing to fight with no weapons or clothing. They are stealing their microprocessors from washing machines and cannot manufacture tanks. Russian weapons are not accurate and do not work. Morale is low and their economy is in shambles. Their president is terminally ill and leadership is incompetent. Yet somehow they are winning and advancing due to their technology and economy? www.nytimes.com/2023/02/07/opinion/russia-ukraine-us-tanks.html

Falling currencies are not a sign of a good economy, most likely inflation and that has issues for the moral of the people.
The concept that a modest sized 2D economy such as Russia can flourish in isolation is problematic and strongly in opposition with things such as the gains from trade theorem so we will see.
In my view if the Russians win the war and that was the prediction from before the conflict it will be less advantageous to the Russian people than not what ever that may be.

Why would anybody come on here to brag about Ukrainian losses? Mostly what that does is remind us of the murderous leader in Russia, and cute words aren't going to change our perception of that. Sorry, but Russia is an aggressor nation, a pariah, and deservedly an outcast from most of the civilized world. So why do you go on about it like it's something to brag about?

I think you're touching on the crux here SLH, being realistic about the situation isn't an issue. However Russia is the aggressor harming the general population of a neighbouring sovereign nation. There's a scent of excitement here, in the same way Graywolf while promoting doom and fear at low ice extent....also seemed excited by it. I rather think there's perhaps a dominant mistress in the wings somewhere bearing black leather and vinyl apparel, implements, and a table with restraints.
