Regarding reserves in the 1970's we had 20 years of oil we have since then used twice that amount and we still have 20 years maybe more and usage is more than doubled.

The amount of gas contained in the gas hydrates is limitless in context of current usage and as yet untouched. Coal is limitless nearly every oil well I have looked at has coal in it some are massive there are people who will fill the tech gaps when prices say go.

I agree with that assessment however we are still dealing with fractions of a century more or less, or even centuries.  Technologies will come but at much greater costs than we are accustomed to.  The world might look very different in those times.

In the name of saving the planet from an imaginary problem, this is the latest from the do-gooders in Europe.

Government advisors propose environment tax on meats

This was written in another place in response to the tax on meats story:

They'll get away with it. Never underestimate the stupidity of the average human.

They're pricing us out of buying private transport, and private housing. Preventing us from working in occupations not approved by the UN parasites as 'environmentally pure'. We've allowed them to govern what we say, and have convinced us that we are united by diversity, that black is the new white, that arseholes are only discernible by their pronouns and colour. We've agreed to tithe their agents of the Climate Gods an ever growing percentage of our income in payment for their prayers which are currently holding back the oceans and cooling the rays of the sun.

We will believe anything they tell us to. We will lock ourselves up and be grateful to a 'caring' government for it.
We will allow frothing zealots to tell us that our 1% of CO2 emissions is the exact 1% that is causing all the trouble.

We believe them when they 'explain' that China's 28% is the harmless type because they. with the capability of laying the entire planet to waste in milliseconds is a "developing country". Only "Colonial" countries produce harmfull emissions.

We allow weedbrained bloody animal rights zealots to invade our farms, endanger the livestock, terrify the farmer's wife and kids and are okay with an addled judge wagging a finger and fining them 20 bucks.

Hell, we're even okay with the dreadlocked painted freaksters setting our historical Parliament building alight in the name of "whitey guilt".

There is no step we won't take to mollify the moronic bleatings of activists representing every form and variety of mental instability driving minority mutual hallucinatory crusades that insult our intelligence and deny the right to exercise common sense.

Some of us eat KALE!!!

So it's no great stretch to accept that we will indeed succumb to the removal of a major source of protein, and iron, from our permissible menus.

Like Pavlov's dog we'll just grin and roll over with tails wagging to save the friggin' planet from ... what?

Am I the first to suggest that what we most need to save it from is these bloody insane climate activists!! or rather from those who are using them to pick our pockets and loose the Four Horsemen upon us.

These people have never spent much time in the American Midwest.  Since our ancestors first rounded up and herded cattle (on the Pontic Steppe supposedly) animal husbandry has provided red meat and milk.  Much more efficient than having to track them down.  We just took them with us.  The poorer cousins settled on sheep, goats, pigs and others.  The "modern" cousins have been penned up in the cities too long, and red meat is being priced out of reach for many.  It is something that arrives on a truck and the plebs are left to stare and wonder if they can afford it or not.  Not unlike the good old medieval periods when all the red meat belonged to the 0.1%.  And still does in places.  Socialism only provides what the 0.1% says it does.  Until the Plebs once again scratch their heads and wonder ... what is wrong with this picture?

The American Midwest is not in any mood to surrender.
