The author's name is fabulous! The work is pretty strong as well, but I predict will get little traction in the world, and could cost him his position at the LSE.

Us scientists love an experiment. And us Missourians always say "Show Me." Tell ya what. Our British cousins can take the lead, and we will take notes in the record book. When the UK proves it works, we'll join the effort. If it doesn't work ... well ... ya pays your money and ya takes your chances.

Most folks are preoccupied with living their lives with their families and loved ones. Most folks ignore the political class and elites except to laugh at them. History demonstrates that can all change suddenly when folks are forced to pay attention to what their “betters” have been doing.

Often overlooked in the discussion of net zero and "renewable" energy is the amount of strip mining needed for all of the copper,zinc,cobalt,etc..needed for complete replacement of fossil fuels. All of the easy minerals have been extracted. Insanity.

All of the easy minerals have been extracted. Insanity. I can tell you that strip mining burns an awful lot of diesel fuel, too. You are literally trading diesel for minerals.
Even the least expensive Tesla costs more than is sensible, and that extra money required to purchase all had significant carbon and fuel input costs to produce.

In the not too distant future, it is going to be discovered that there is not enough copper/nickel/rare earths to engineer the planned "net zero" and associated electrification.
That will be the down to earth moment.
