I too am an atheist, Mr. Code, but I found this opinion piece a strangely compelling exposition of the fallacies and narcissism of the militant trans movement sweeping the globe. And, it's nice to see that, as an atheist, you don't reject out of hand thoughtful arguments by the religious. In my mind there is nothing worse than an evangelical atheist waving her hands in the air and screaming about the evils of "the sky god."

WSJ Opinion/CommentaryA Biologist Explains Why Sex Is BinaryIn an effort to confuse the issue, gender ideologues cite rare ambiguous ‘intersex’ cases. By Colin Wright April 9, 2023 1:15 pm ET The transgender movement has left many intelligent Americans confused about sex. Asked to define the word “woman” during her Supreme Court confirmation hearings last year, Ketanji Brown Jackson demurred, saying “I’m not a biologist.” I am a biologist, and I’m here to help.

For a zoologist's perspective on this subject, I am thoroughly enjoying the (in my view) unfortunately titled book 'Bitch' by Lucy Cooke. www.goodreads.com/book/show/59228221-bitch. She busts so many myths along the way through a well-referenced book, although sometimes, understandably, she does get a bit angry at the mindsets that refused to consider alternative readings of what is going on. She says there are sixty markers of biological sex, of which the X/Y (or Z/W in birds) chromosome is one. It's a complicated world out there. The chapter I've just finished talks about albatrosses on Hawaii. A significant minority are female-female pairs, bonded for life. It's a new colony, and there aren't enough males to go around. Nature is very adaptable.
The reason I mention this book is because paradigms are shifting rapidly in this area. The book gave me a broader overview of how the fauna life do it, from spiders to birds, lemurs, monkeys, moles and orcas among others.
PS As a sixty-something, educated western woman I would probably self-identify as a TERF.

Very occasionally, nature jumbles the assembly line. Where that is not the case, the "jumble" represents a mental choice. Not unlike "being" a spirit animal I would guess. In a fight between a real wolf and a spirit wolf, I'll lay odds on which would win. Just because I think I'm one, doesn't make me one. The female-female albatross pairs are understandable. The trans-woman urge to play on womens' sports teams and hang out in their locker rooms (even if understandable) is not acceptable. Color me an unimpressed physical scientist.

I agree. The reason I referenced that book is that I feel the story is more nuanced than it might first appear. I welcome a level, cool discussion of what seems to be a contentious area.

I just saw this on Zerohedge Jane. Seems that TERFS are not popular. But that is what thugs are about. www.zerohedge.com/political/shellenberger-why-trans-activists-attack-women
