"I'm so glad you're a foodie." Not a lot of veggies with those bones.

I plan to plant biggly this year. New green house will be done so warm weather crops like tomatoes will be extended and I plan to infuse my yard and landscape with edibles.

I'm feeling a little bit motivated, too. But that could easily change. I could be a LOT MORE motivated if I didn't have to manually create every cubic foot of soil. Thin soils on the tops of limestone ledges are not naturally the best. Had 9 cubic yards of triple ground tree mulch delivered about 3+ years ago ... and have been moving it around ever since. SLOWLY decomposing into good stuff. Prices are probably over $200 for a 9 cubic yard load. So if I was ambitious, then one load of black dirt and one load of mulch. THEN kill off the grass and put up raised beds ... either enclosed or not. BIGGLY did not offer anything more than cheerleading.

Going to the Asian market today to locate some high-sugar variety of sweet potato.

I found what the Asian store called "Japanese yams", I think that they are the Murasaki sweet potato mentioned in the video. I bought some of those, and I found what they called "Hawaiian purple", which I read is the same thing as the Okinawan. I bought some of those, too. I believe that the Murasaki are patented by LSU, I think that they get several cents on every potato sold. They sound tasty to me. And as the man in the video stated, these are rather expensive sweet potatoes.

19 Feb 2014 at 10:26pm sigurdur and karlox like thisQuoteEditlikePost OptionsPost by birder on 19 Feb 2014 at 10:26pm It's been a very mild winter so far and today I saw my first flowering Coltsfoot. I've been recording Coltsfoot Phenology for 31 years and this years date is 6 days later than average. It was interesting to note that the last few years dates are very similar to 23 years ago (1989-1991) which could imply the solar cycles (i.e x2) are involved.
The above was copied from a thread at Solarcycle 24 forum. This years 1st date for Coltsfoot was 20th February 2023, not much change in 40 years.
