Tbf, who the hell needs the level of acceleration these cars offer as standard?
If you wanted an AMG version of an ICE vehicle...you'll be paying a fortune over the standard model.
This actually seems a more efficient way of offering performance to those who don't really need it anyway, probably at a cheaper price too.
C class amg $65.000 C class. $30-75.000
EQE (comparable ev saloon to c class?)
$70.000+
Maybe should compare e class but clearly mercedes EV are horrendously expensive anyway. You could be in an S class instead of a saloon ev with options.
You can easily (in the UK) save £3000/year at 20,000 Miles a year charging overnight on EV tariff at home.
Depreciation is going to be horrible with EV though also.
Incidentally, I'm close to 60,000 miles in mine, just got serviced and mot. Has cost me nothing in parts/labour...not even discs/pads as I regen brake mostly.
Battery is behaving well, I might detect a 10% drop in battery capacity? However....I don't drive it as frugally as I once did and so I think the estimated range reflects this and unless I drive to squeeze every kw/mile out of it it will lower the range estimate logically.
Overall, some of the easiest, most relaxing motoring I've ever had. 99% of my driving falls well within what I get out of a full battery tho which isn't the case for everyone.

I have been running an Audi 50TFSIe for a while now its a short range plug in hybrid.
I bought it really because I like tech and also to be able to ask people who drive a full electric in conversation that "I drive it mainly on petrol but on coal around town" then ask them if they run theirs on coal, then saying, "oh yes yours is full coal". It drives them mad they make all sorts of assertions about our grid being 70% hydro etc. which brings in the next line, "oh so yours increases rainfall when you plug in".
It stops about there, virtue signalling fools hate me.
To be fair electric is fine and hybrid is a great addition for efficiency and performance lift. If I had a choice I would get a diesel hybrid and diesel looks to be making a bit of a come back. The thermodynamic efficiency of a diesel with the low down punch of electric sounds appealing.

My BIG Nissan Frontier 4x4 still crushes the competition. At age 11 and only 51K miles it still purrs like a juvenile. I've thought about modifying it to emit the Rebel Yell on takeoff ... but that is still on hold.
