They have split personalities. They will eat each other when their local Karens call for "cancel cullings".

They have split personalities. They will eat each other when their local Karens call for "cancel cullings". The left isn't monolithic. There are various factions and a lot of sheep. The factions seldom disagree on anything major (though take a look at presidential candidates for a periodic exception) and they recognize that crushing individual and state's rights is in their best interests but each faction has its own primary interest and those ultimately aren't aligned. Of course by the time those factions really get to grips with each other I'll be in a shallow grave or a concentration camp, so it won't matter to me.
Edit: fixed typo.

Minerals mining is not environmentally friendly. Not to mention, viable deposits are not abundant. We should be working out an lng infrastructure, still think that they are on the wrong path.

Agree Walnut
Build the future around Nuclear base load power and gas. CCG for variable electrical needs gas for space heating, LNG for trucks and ships, CNG/Hybrids for cars and distal areas. Liquids for plane etc.

For copper alone, the world mines about 21m tons of "fresh" metal each year, supplemented by about 4m tons of recycled copper.
It is very hard to see how these figures can be increased significantly, as large numbers of old rich mines such as Escondida are now mining copper at extremely low grades [around 0.25%]. Not enough new large mines have been discovered, and most of those are in unstable locations.
An average EV uses around 75kg of copper, as against about 15kg in a conventional petrol/diesel vehicle.
There is no need to even discuss the impact of millions of new EVs on power grids.
The dramatic transformation of the world's transport fleets to EVs is impossible, so it is not going to happen.

You're assuming the fleets will stay the same size.
Remember, the people forcing EV's onto the general population don't care about the general population. If eliminating the idea of the poor and middle class having cars is what it takes they'll be happy to do that. Makes the peasants easier to control.
And if it uses up copper, driving up the price of ammo... bonus.

hence the 15 min city's ... you could be onto something for once .. Anything that can be implemented for the "convenience" of the public or its enjoyment or efficiency, can also be used for control by black-hearted villains. My neighborhood lies on the fringe of the University (~10 blocks) and hard up against a creek (3-4 blocks) and abandoned rail line that has been converted to trails and green space. You can ride your bike from the center to the burbs if you wish ... and some do. Maybe 100 feet of local relief. The standard mid-western assemblage of oak, hickory, squirrels and deer (food and fuel in a pinch). I was born and raised in the poorer, working-class parts of this town, so I knew these areas, and actively sought a location here when I returned from my 30-year sojourn. Control stops at speed bumps and local zoning. One must actively "weed out" the University-attracted northeastern doctrinated riff raff that would have their way with us. About a decade ago we had a vocal university-attached woke social weevil who settled in and actively attempted "social change". The MO legislature got involved with funding threats ... and the weevil was dispatched. There are quieter ones that also need dispatching.
There are other 15-minute neighborhoods that you may want to avoid on foot in the dark of night. Including the neighborhood I grew up in. This is not St Louis ... so gun play may only be reported every couple of weeks instead of every night. The State prison system still gets traffic. Local assemblies and their committees need to be actively policed.

I think I saw a note somewhere that the UK is starting to backtrack on its "no petrol/diesel vehicles after 2030" committment.
Perhaps someone has talked to the engineers, which is a rather quaint idea for politicians.

Builder I currently contract to, our site is still gas, everything works fine. Another site nearby has switched to air source, chatting to the plumber there yesterday and there was nothing good to say about it. Some of it seemed inexperience and teething issued. Trying to supply flats however with long flow/return pipes, low flow temps, keeping heat loss down from unit to property....see where I'm going? We've got another 2 years guaranteed gas boilers on site...after that it's another few years of building that's just going through planning so don't know yet what's been decided there. However been hearing 'gas is getting banned' for 10 years....we'll see....
