Today the Chinese postponed the release of the Q3 GDP data until after the Communist party meeting. I wonder why?

Like climate change, the talking heads have been selling a thesis that China is going to eat our lunch.
So ... in a nutshell here is an alternative thesis (9 minute summary). For the brain trust ... Where is he wrong? If he's right ... big implications for the future.

"Grudgingly admitted that they over-counted their population by 100,000,000 people" lol
Train wrecks are fascinating to watch, but try not to be too ghoulish about it.
If making scraps of cloth and plastic trinkets to sell in Walmart was a particularly good business, we'd still be doing it ourselves. I think that if it doesn't pay well here, then it doesn't really pay well there, either. "We'll work really cheap" is not necessarily the best business model.

Can you imagine what would happen to the Chinese economy if the USA were to decrease imports by say 15%? A cascading debt collapse. Trump was effectively moving that way when the trade war was eclipsed by the scamdemic.

This Fourth Turning is shaping up to be a big one. With generational upheaval accompanied by a cold period. It's good to be located on a resource-rich continent in a favorable climate zone separated from others by large oceans. "Come and take it" carries a whole new meaning. If the Native Americans had been a little more organized, they would never have let us stay. But we hit them between epidemics brought as presents by the the Spaniards. China is heading for hard times I think.

The complete lockdowns in Chinese cities under the pretense of fighting covid are difficult to understand. Our brains do not operate the same as the CCP controllers. Obviously there were different reasons.
That video is fascinating. It sounds like China is further down the road than we might have realized.

This is entirely speculative, but I wonder if the lockdowns were cover for some internal purges? We know there are segments of the Chinese population that the leaders don't like.
If certain segments of the population had a higher "death rate from COVID" would anyone be able to tell after the fact?

I'm thinking similar thoughts. If there are anti-government sentiments brewing, the lockdowns may be a totalitarian attempt to quell them. If people cannot leave their homes they won't know what's happening down the street. People who don't have liberty want it.

Obviously there were different reasons. That video is fascinating. It sounds like China is further down the road than we might have realized. I watch China Update every day on YoutTube. It's just a brief news clip mainly on the economy in China. I am really shocked at just how fast the Chinese economy is unwinding due to the collapse of the real estate bubble. They have seen 50-60 plus percent declines in that industry yet they continue to force zero covid lockdowns. It's like a watching a train wreck. The governments answer to this housing bubble is to simply build more houses. It's what led to the incredible growth they have seen over the last 30 years, it's all they know, and their inability to stop, shift gears and turn is baffling. I guess they are really good at building cheap plastic products and vacant ghost cities but not very good at innovation and adapting. Which is also disturbing. They cannot build chips, the U.S. is increasingly guarding the chip making technology developed here. So their eyes are likely to turn more and more to the golden chip goose on the island they view as their traditional homeland.
