thanks Ratty Champagne has its impact. Product of France, bottled within 100 miles of the Champagne region?

Nobody has adequately answered the issue of geothermal heat inputs to the oceans. What the hell is this. Looks very different than your normal gravity wave or wind generated heat movement. Coming in from a depth of over 400 meters in the E. Pacific (the East Pacific Rise?).
The graph above updates daily, so my comments are based upon today's graph which shows a lot of yellow and red on the right side extending to the bottom of the graph.
My explanation for the red/yellow area is that the normal upwelling of water along the west coast of the South American coast has been temporarily reduced. This is because the westerly winds are temporarily reduced along the equator which lessens the upwelling of water required to displace water which has been swept to the west and away from the coast by the winds.
The result is a reduced upflow of cooler water which results in the temperatures being above normal. This doesn't require a new source of heat from the ocean depths.

Big solar flare! Big earthquakes.

But but but Mr.M, that flare is only just grazing us today!? This link is to a homepage as the article isn't a separate page and will head down the chain. The 2nd current article is also interesting....the awaited largd sunspot AR3536 responsible for above flare is cockeyed, and poised to emit further www.spaceweather.com/

The second comment at the bottom of the article (by Wilpost) revisits the issue of geothermal heat as an input to Western Warm Pool temperatures and ensuing El Ninos.
Until ~70-80 years ago, the continents did not move.

I think “Continental Drift” was still referred to as a theory into the 60’s.

This is amazing "stuff" Mr Phy.

He has also published some interesting statistical analysis on the effects of COVID vaccines on health. Google tries to bury his stuff, so he must be doing something good. Here's what passes for fun with ES: theethicalskeptic.substack.com/p/the-lyintific-method

I was trained up in geology ... so I admit to a bias in my views on planetary heat inputs to our oceanic - atmospheric system. It does not strike me as a wild far out concept at all.
