I agree work is usually there but it might not be fun work sometimes. If you get tired of that come over here and drive a machine. But its about to get cold.. lol dry cold i can handle.. but not driving anything at my age ..4 more yrs till i retire .. fishing metal detecting and long walks away from the wife .. got it all planed out  Winter is our dry season as the Gulf Stream doesn't generally have enough ummpff to reach us. Dry cold is not so bad. Wet cold like you guys get is miserable.  When the Stream dashes north and meets the cold wave is when we get buried. Not too often ... but it happens. Last one was 2010-11 ... 52 inches over 4 months. |

Found some nice old jewelry though I'm still looking for that buried Confederate gold.  |

My mates in construction are getting laid off/running out of work, contractors have cv's piling up on desks. Bad sign for UK economy. Don't worry about me...I'm lucky, 18 months certain work with an option on the horizon. I am feeling really fortunate tho! What is "an option"? That might be slightly too UK dialect for me to follow. I have likewise been lucky so far, final accounting shows that the year has been better than I have been complaining about. But it feels slow, and could have been much better. Most others in the industry are in big trouble or already shut down. Our buyers have no cash. and no credit any longer. Well....I'm being coy W as a few more things need to fall into place, and I don't want to get overexcited until all the ducks have aligned in a row. However, I may have overdone my role as a subcontractor and the main contractor (ie building company) wants me. I'm very lucky to have made friends and allies with the companies management, its a slow process but eyes are being kept on possible roles for me....need an opening (and not fk up what I'm doing atm!!!! No pressure!!) |

Bits of me that hurt stay hurting, that didn't happen when I was younger 😕 Seems a very slow descent economy wise, 2007 was quite abrupt? Concerns me that the longer it takes to hit rock bottom...the longer it'll take to come out again? Gunning for you to keep being lucky W 👍🏻 |

I gotta say Mr.M, its a very weird feeling going to work every day, being busy and doing OK, my no.2 guy is on point as usual and busy, but clearly if anyone else turned up there'd be nothing for them to do, just enough for us. Meanwhile, guys I know ran out of work this week, have gone home and don't know what they'll do after Xmas. Eery feeling...leverage is my site will be one of my bosses most reliable sources of income next year The builder proposes to open another 2 sites next year so as we've been running for 4 years and our reputation rests partly on my sites performance, I don't think he's too keen to upset the balance.
