In Saudi it was said, that by law, construction workers (mostly 3rd World laborers) were to be allow to stop work when temperatures reached 45C. it was 38c last night in the works kitchen .. one of the extractors went down 3 months ago .. glad i finish there on thur night .. same job new place 10 days after modern kitchen ..

Without rigorous evidence, I assert that we in Vancouver BC have had a relatively cool year overall (currently 22C at our house away from the water), and that the 'brutal' temperatures lasted less than a week. Lytton and Osoyoos BC flirt with 40C every summer, and are the closest to 'desert' that we have in Canada I think.
