Unlee Mother Nature throws us a big curveball, every plant and animal in my yard is convinced it is Spring. All apple trees in full bloom in a couple of days. Sucking up carbon at the speed of light. Gonna hire them out. Can we credit you with saving the planet? Might as well. Unlike Al I haven't charged anybody for it - YET. Gonna start up a new company ... CARBON SUCKER.

China seems to be cutting grain buys from the US and switching them to Brazil. They are not happy with US.

Major reason for this is Brazil is a BRICS country. China has invested heavily in transportation and ports in Brazil Vilosek is trying to blame Republicans. The ownership issue is a few grains of rice issue.

We are having a very good spring. Seemingly enough water (over average). All my biennials and oerennials are loving it. Dames rocket and spring onions have achieved booster stage two. The deer are leaving my yard mostly alone. Lots of smells and textures they don't like. Nibbles only as they train up the young ones. Tornados staying mostly south of us along that cool-warm edge. Nothing like real spring in Middle Earth.

Tensions are mounting between China and the West almost by the day. Trump era tariffs on China have only been increased by the Biden administration. We are decoupling from them and they from us. Personally I do not think Xi Ping Pong will wait until 2027 to take Taiwan. If he senses weakness now with Biden he may decide to act before he has to deal with Trump. 170 days until Election Day 2024 and I think the geopolitical stakes are as high or higher than any time since the Cold War and maybe even 1939. It may be a good time to stock a little extra in the cupboard, keep a little extra cash on hand and get those tools you may need should things get a little sideways...

Below is a picture that shows the disruption due to the solar flares during May 10. In the center of the picture note the discontinuity of the red line. I did not suddenly move the whole tractor and planter about 40 ft north east into the trees. I was steering (not running auto-steering) around the outside of the field, so this is recorded position data. This GPS system (RTK) is good for +- 1 inch year to year. The size of the dots are 10 ft diameter.

Done planting. Has been a cool wet spring in the North.
Corn in this area is ugly, soys are slow to emerge. Wheat is so,so.
Russian wheat froze and was dry.
China is building a port in Peru to bypass the Panama Canal.
The world won't run out of food anytime soon. South American production continues to expand rapidly.
The US may run out of farmers. The cost of production has sored. Machinery, repairs etc continue to shock me.

Some think China is going to collapse. I don't see that happening anytime soon. They have been the engine driving South America.
What does that have to do with Ag? That engine is bringing us BRICS.
I much preferred Brenton Woods. The Biden Administration appears intent on destroying that agreement.

China has an opaque and imperiled debt market which is in worse shape than ours. Another Brics member citizens are known for shitting in the river they bathe in. South Africa is not safe to travel to. Russia is at war. Brazil is the only member who deserves some respect. These people will never come together to form a legitimate currency.

Think Boeing. Right, we need our farms run by local people with knowledge of the land, like Bill Gates
