Least we forget! (This is not a forecast.)
I was visiting my parents in Tonawanda New York when the Great Blizzard of 77 hit Buffalo. My weekend visit turned into three weeks of shoveling snow for them. A true blizzard; temps near -0-F, 50 mph winds and feet of snow, much of which had blown off of frozen Lake Erie into the city. The drifts were like concrete. Other than Katrina, I have never experienced a weather event of such significance.

After winter 2009-10 in Flagstaff AZ I'm hard to impress. Two day blizzard put 4 feet of snow on my roof. By winter's end I could no longer shovel my driveway snow over the berm. Had to call in heavy equipment. Whenever a wet system tracked down the Pacific coast and made a left turn about LA or San Diego, you KNEW you were gonna get buried. You ain't never seen snow till you see a wet, winter raging demon come screaming up over the Mogollon Rim in Arizona.

It has been an incredibly mild winter so far here in Middle Earth. Eurasia is paying so far this year.

One of the mildest years in recent memory for most of the US. The exception being Alaska and maybe the extreme Pacific NW. Likely to change in January...

Looks like the mild winter of 2023 may take a turn in the first couple of weeks of the new year. We will see if it pans out.
