Mount Washington (New Hampshire) wind chill hits a cool -110F. It's only 6288 feet high.
There's some discussion out there as to whether ther tropopause fell below this altitude. However...with the the devil being in the detail, it depends if you define the tropopause being temperature or chemical. I've been to my sisters bday party so....however, the temperature element here is satisfied, but the chemical part is not.

Its snowing in Summer in the Oz Alps. My heating system has just been turned on. The planetary temperature anomaly just turned negative, without a word in the press. A very famous scientist once said, with words to this efect; "It does not matter who you are, it does'nt matter how elegant your theory, if its not supported by data, its wrong, AND THAT IS ALL THERE IS TO IT." Vale CAGW. We should be spreading this to the press and politicians everywhere. And that's based on their data. I'm going to buy some coats and wool blankets during the spring clearance sales. You could try out a mass purchase in Equador of their fine woolen stocks ... but they're not as stupid as our lot.

The last "ice age" may have ended due to celestial impact upon our planet...this is implied in previous posts however I can elaborate when I have more time...probably worth doing We'll be waiting. Just like old times.

UAH Lower Troposphere for March 2023.
From Dr Roy: The USA48 region had the 2nd coldest March in the 45-year satellite record, 1.44 deg. C below the 30-year normal. The coldest March was in 1981, at 1.91 deg. C below normal.
Looking at the trend from 2008 to 2023 (SCs 24 and 25) there is more variance in the 2020-2023 period than in the SC24 comparable period of 2009-2012. Perhaps the Hunga-Tonga eruption of December, 2021 has played a role. Regardless, the trend from 2015 to 2023 is still down. Whereas the period from 2008 to 2015 was up ... even if you discount the 2015 El Nino. UAH LT temperature anomalies still follow ENSO ... and ENSO tracks with solar cycles. I expect a shallow rise in ENSO and UAH ocean-troposphere temperature anomalies across the face of SC25. My gut says ENSO will stay below the El Nino threshold of +0.5 C for all of 2023. Cold water is cycling into the tropics from the NE Pacific. We'll see how long it lasts.

Brave man, a rational optimist?

Further to Ratty's starter, some of the drivers are as follows. He stole that term from Matt Ridley, just saying.
1. solar cycle peaking, low peak but peak all the same upward pressure I think. 2. sea temperature west of US is very cold I mean very cold an El Nino if there is, has some work to do there. downward pressure. 3. We in NZ are bloody cold in spite of the BS projected round. Duck shooting season, soon used to in frost that stopped for 15 years it looks to be back. what is it that we are getting here. My turmeric has not flowered at all this year and little last year same with ginger, we are doomed. 4. How did CA get so much water in the south with a La Nina, The prediction is that there will be rain when the El Nino comes, god help them!!
Please add your thoughts.

April UAH Lower Troposphere temperatures are in. Two Charts looking at ENSO, UAH and Solar Cycle Values
UAH lower troposphere temperature anomalies continue generally with ENSO values ... now an 8-year downward trend since the last large El Nino in 2015. Hunga-Tonga eruption in January 2022 seems to have resulted in great variance in the long-term month-to-month trends in the UAH tropical troposphere temperature anomalies (16 months now). Unlike anything in the previous UAH record. UAH tropical temperature anomaly has fallen by ~1C. UAH global temperature anomaly has fallen by ~0.7C.
Tropical and Global Lower troposphere gains since 2007-08 have now seemingly been erased.
This might explain the recent, seemingly desperate need for "a massive ENSO" to recharge a cooling atmosphere. Lay your bets gentlemen.

Monster El Nino - Heat from Hell - We're all gonna die. The oceans just reached their hottest temperature on record as El Niño looms. Here are 6 things to watch for
You can only find it in the news.

I read that it was not safe to swim along the Southern California coast this summer. Dangerously hot water. Know the signs! You could be boiled alive.

I'm sitting on my porch watching the water level on the beach rise almost a foot in the last six hours! Oh, the humanity! How does it make sense that the value of my house keeps going up, when it should be clear anyone living here will drown?

“We will probably have, in 2024, the warmest year globally on record,” Josef Ludescher a senior scientist at Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research, told CNN. The hottest year on record is currently 2016, which followed a very strong El Niño.
