One of them is politics: xkcd.com/2962/ If he can be fooled, the rank and file can be fooled.
I'm sure the Democrats *could* find some better candidates. Of course they could have in 2020 and 2016, not to mention, well... every election of the 21st century, at a minimum. Yet they don't. So why start now?
Remember, they don't need to actually win the popular vote or the electoral college, just come close enough to cheat the rest of the way.

Strong economic direction in these next four years are, I think, critical. Believe in them or not, historical Fourth Turnings are not generally meek and mild. Lincoln's 1858 House Divided Speech has been widely misinterpreted (IMHO). The Southern Agricultural Slave Lords raged against it, while the New England Commercial Slave Lords raged for it. The Southern Lords lost that war largely because free Celts, who settled the Appalachian Spine, refused to support them. They knew a Slave Lord (North or South) when they saw one. Now, two fourth turnings onward, it is the Northern Slave Lords and their Woke Communist armies (New England Puritans and their colonies) turn to be beaten by free men and women, and complete the process. Love him or hate him ... Trump now occupies that historical slot. And, at least, one shot has refused to dislodge him. Absolute Victory is Required.
