I post pictures using Dropbox. Dropbox can be used as a free host for pics you want to post on the forum. -Simply upload pics to your account there. - Create a link to a pic and copy the link to your clipboard (When you view your image in Dropbox you should see a “ Share” function. Select that and you will see a “ copy link” option). -in the Forum “reply” tool bar, select the 7th icon from the left (a picture). -Paste your link into the “Image URL” field. -Replace only the “www” in your link with dl-“Insert image” - will post your pic wherever your cursor was in the reply field.

Thanks Blue. ... and, if you install the Dropbox app on your computer, there should be a "Copy Dropbox link" menu option if you right-click on an image in your Dropbox folder. Simplifies things somewhat.

Having difficulty posting an image using dropbox. Posted an image under Arctic sea ice extent on Oct,9th following your instructions. All was OK. When I looked a few days later the image had disappeared. Reposted the image on two occasions. Each time the image disappears a few days later. What am I doing wrong?

Neilhamp- I've never had that happen. I looked at the post you refer to and see there is indeed no image but I don't know what would cause that. I'm assuming the image is still in your Dropbox. My first thought is that the image is being moved in your Dropbox account and then that kills the link you used in your post. Is your dropbox full? Free account has a size limit. Is your dropbox set up with subfolders? I have a "Forum" folder that I keep my Solarcycle pics in. Has this happened to any other posts of yours? Just some ideas. Also, Walnut has an alternate image posting method. You could PM him and ask him for the details -Blustnmtn

I have lots of images, all in one folder on dropbox, and have never had that happen. I have also not upgraded my free account.

Perhaps you changed the file name? I occasionally do that for clarity but it mucks up the DropBox link.

I only have a free Dropbox account. Just looked at my Oct.9 Sea Ice Extent post. Image was still there. Is it possible that I am the only person able to see the image? Will keep checking and report back when image disappears.

My (raw, from a right click) DropBox links look like this: "https://www.dropbox.com/s/jwj07esy5i41ig9/007_Meghan.jpg?dl=0" Then I change it to: "https://dl.dropbox.com/s/jwj07esy5i41ig9/007_Meghan.jpg?dl=0" before creating the post.

Does dropbox have an option setting which allows for automatic deletion of uploads after a selected number of days? Not sure. Don't immediately see anything. When I update my timeseries graphs I usually give them the same name as the old ones. Then when I upload them, dropbox just overwrites the old image.

I see no image in your Oct. 9 post. Are you creating a “link” in Dropbox? Or, are you simply copy/pasting the Dropbox location…that won’t work!!! You need to find the “copy or create link” icon and use that address in the forum post!!!
