It looks like we will have a change of federal government next month. It the polls are right, Labor (~ Democrats) looks a shoo-in to win, replacing the current government who are big on border protection. Expect boats from Sri Lanka.

That article makes it sound like Russia's economy has been humming along nicely due to higher energy prices. I do not believe that is true. After all, they are in the process of defaulting on their debt at this moment.
And for whatever reasons, the US dollar has been holding it's own fairly well against other major currencies in the world.
