COLUMBIA — The 6.9 inches of snow Columbia has had this month would seem like a dream come true for the East Coast this weekend. But there have been days when Columbia has gotten its fair share of winter weather. Here are some of Columbia's record-breaking snowfalls according to the National Weather Service.
Most snowfall in a month: 24.5 inches in March 1960 Most snowfall in a year: 49.4 inches throughout 1960 The snowiest season: December 2010 to February 2011 had 45.6 inches Daily record snowfall amounts: Jan. 19, 1995 — 18.0 inches Feb. 1, 2011 — 17.5 inches Dec. 1, 2006 — 13.0 inches Feb. 16, 1945 — 12.0 inches Feb. 19. 1938 — 11.8 inches Feb. 23, 1975 — 11.8 inches
