Politics. It is such a gross game. When Trump first ran, I sincerely thought it was a joke – an ego trip. He was extraordinarily brash, especially back then - typical of someone from Queens. He was so “unpresidential,” yet I kept hearing things I liked and began to see perhaps he truly cared about the country. All his labels for others are off-putting, but they work. Remember “Lying Ted Cruz?”
I can cite numerous things Trump did that I did not like. Trust in Fauci, lockdowns, the vax development, poor staff picks. I could go on. Much from inexperience in areas where he trusted people he should not have trusted. He had no idea how deep and broad the deep state was. He did expose it for the world to see. At least he drew them out and let them expose themselves. He was a leader and had strong understanding of international affairs and money and making others stop taking advantage of the US. He also was a president of peace. (Finally!) He worked hard for middle-America and the average American. Trump steamrolled the press, much to my liking and amusement – though it took some getting used to his methods and antics. Finally, a president that fought back – again, he’s from Queens.
DeSantis has been impressive as Florida’s governor from the reading/watching/listening I’ve done, though admittedly I need to learn more. He has leadership experience (though not as seasoned as I would like) and has demonstrated an ability to handle the press well. He wants to do people right from what I’ve seen. I just don’t know enough about him and need to read/watch/listen more, but he would likely be a good choice.
Vivek Ramaswamy – My first impression was not good at all, but watching an interview he did that a friend sent me, wow! The guy is very impressive – very bright, very articulate, and very confident. Conservative, not in a GOP sense, but good old fashion fly-over country conservative beliefs. I had no idea. That said, he’s pretty young and without the level of leadership experience I believe is needed, though he has run businesses, which is a heck of a lot more than can be said of many of our recent presidents and puppet masters.
Frankly I’d be fine with any of the three above. I do lean towards Trump because he’s a junk yard dog, and I think we need that right now, especially now that he has a clearer picture of how awful the corruption is in DC. His first round taught him a lot. DeSantis and Vivek don’t have that benefit, yet. DeSantis should especially stay in the race. Vivek likely will not garner the following needed.
Relative to the destruction we see daily from the federal government, I’ll take anyone other than the current puppet and puppet master. But that “anyone” better have a lot of balls and better be prepared to strap it on and do a lot of work to right this ship. It is a mess.

I wouldn't invite him around for a meal but he is well equipped to do the best for the country and that is what matters. That Trump was not given the opportunity of a second term is a defining point in world history IMNSHO; I do wish he was a little less brash, but not too much.

DeSantis puts on an attractive performance but I'm afraid that he is in the Jeb Bush-Liz Cheney club. Still watching.

I really think Trump may have been as surprised as anyone that his... approach resonated with a lot of voters. He may have been the first to believe he could actually win, but once he did I think he decided to go for it.

I am an observer from the UK. I posted this under the "Race for the Presidency" link. Decided to repost here.
Most people I speak to about American politics think Trump v Biden is a contest between "a narcissist v the cognitively challenged". I still hold out some hope that the GOP will come to its senses and find somebody other than Trump.(I voted for "other")
Trump always choses a name to try to belittle his main contender. We all remember "Lying Ted". We still use "Sleepy Joe" here in the UK. Let's not forget "Crooked Hilary"!
Somehow "Ron DeSanctimonious" isn't catching on! It doesn't seem to fit! I'm surprised Trump thought of such a long word. Does he know what it means? None of the dirt Trump throws at DeSantis seems to stick. Perhaps it doesn't matter! The "DeSanctimonious" twitter declaration was a bit of a flop. The poor showing seems to be reflected in the polls.

Great observations, especially those from overseas that provide insight on just what others around the world think of Trump.
I am from Texas and it is clearly "Trump" country. I think many here like Ron DeSantis but when it comes down to it will probably vote for Trump in the primary. This Memorial Day weekend I have seen Trump flags bumper stickers and even a Trump parasail in South Padre Island last week. Never before in my life have I seen such an enthusiastic following for a political candidate.
Personally, I consider myself a moderate living in a land full of ultra conservatives. I can't see DeSantis beating Trump when it comes down to it in a primary. With that being said I think DeSantis is more "presidential" and would be less divisive and better for the Republican Party in the long run.

DeSantis seems to have an extremely contentious nature. His willingness to attack all enemies right out of the gate is attractive to many republicans at this stage. He is a Cheney-Bush protege. I hate these options.

When I think about who should be President, this comes to mind.
If Trump had been elected in 2020, I’m pretty sure there would not have been a Ukraine war. I think the withdrawal from Afghanistan would have been smooth and we would not have left a massive amount of equipment behind.
The Keystone XL Pipeline would have been built. Our petroleum reserve would still be full. Our oil production would be higher and prices would be lower.
Our southern border would be safe and immigration would be orderly. Drugs would not flow as easily into the US and many lives of young adults would have been saved.
Inflation would not have skyrocketed. The Fed would not have been so driven to keep interest rates at zero to support the libs. Trump would not have pushed for dangerously low interest rates because the economy was recovering nicely and in his second term he wasn’t going to be running for reelection.
China would have respected us.
Better military, fairer FBI, CIA and Justice Department, Transportation Department, and better run government operations in general (Swamp draining).
Does anyone doubt these things?

Does anyone doubt these things? Exactly. Think of the greater good. We know what we get with Trump. Which was actually very good- net of his grating personality, which does not affect our balance sheet. I have some questions about how he handled covid and some of his cabinet/advisor picks, but I think at this point we are desperate.

Vote for Trump? I rather take a dump and vote for it.
Code: You should listen to the whole undecorated clip. How many people did he burn? How many posts went unfilled?
How was he received on the world stage by allies?
How much did he get done?
National debt?

foreignpolicy.com/2017/07/31/how-the-trump-administration-broke-the-state-department/
You know, I was thinking about this- That Trump was not respected on the world stage was a common theme in the liberal mainstream press. But only lately has the world come to respect the US so much that about half the countries have declared that they are joining the BRICS and dumping the dollar for trade among themselves. They are doing this with resentful satisfaction. Biden got that ball rolling with his careless and unnecessary comments and insults about Saudi Arabia.
Only now did Putin dare to invade Ukraine. He chose this time for a reason.
