I was thinking of current events and how history tends to repeat itself.
Currently we have a dictator in Europe "annexing" territory.
We have a lackluster response from other European nations to this aggression.
There seems to be a "phony" war going on when it comes to this as both sides will probably escalate the fighting in the weeks/months to come.
A growing menace in the East has essentially been elected as emperor.
We have placed sanctions on this growing menace in the East essentially forcing their hand.
The global economy is contracting and protectionism is an increasing threat.
If the stock market crashes and dust storms reek havoc in the high plains I am building a shelter and hording food, guns and ammo...

We have a different take on the Ukraine conflict.
Energy prices are catering
There is no fiscal restraint by Democrats
People think they are entitled to successful people's money
Democrats become bigger liars by the day
31.4 Trillion is a lot of interest
BRIC nations are expanding economic influence
Climate change drama is nuts
Biden Administration has really poor secretaries
Press Lady keeps lying
I have food
31.4 trillion is a lot of moola
Solution? Freeze spending, increase taxes. Won't need higher interest rates to slow economy.

A lot to agree with Sig we in NZ have very similar version of that also.
I just spoke with a number of very negative people about this and when you think back to Ronald Reagan with the aid of 4 years of inflation and smart spending control it can be fixed.
Fiscal drag is the savior for the regulators and inflation kills the debt the rest is just discipline.

I think that the Fed could back off and see what happens for a quarter. No rate increase this go around.

inflation is still above the OCR so the machine will not stop, we in NZ have domestic wage push inflation now so explain to me how that will end with a little bit tightening.

Unemploying half (or more) of the Federal Bureaucracy would put a serious dent in the Federal Budget without affecting service. Proclaiming the Climate Crisis "SOLVED"... together with number one would likely balance the budget.
Prosecuting World-class crooks such as El Presidente and number one son would improve citizen morale. As would shooting looters and putting survivors on chain gangs. Answer to Code: Democrats cannot stop spending ... as groups such as "Only Democrat Lives Matter" would terminate them.

We had a former premier who tried that after being elected with a whopping majority. He was voted out at the next election.

The only thing I would add to your post is when the Republicans were in power they did not show "fiscal restraint" either. Each party is beholden to special interests.

From seven years ago, I've put it here for the history buffs to comment ... Good video thanks for posting. A couple of things come to mind. One is a current case being taken all the way to the Supreme Court over a proposed Biden administration requirement that commercial fishermen in Federal waters pay 700.00 a day for "monitors". The case has broad ranging ramifications as these monitors and their fees may be extended to other federally regulated industries. As a commercial fisherman there is know way I could afford to pay 700.00 a day for a federal monitor. I would have to sell my boat.

That would certainly stop 'over fishing' but I don't like your chances of finding a buyer. Surely that cannot be correct: $700/day ??
