The Farmers - Old Farmers - and Joe take on the Model Biggies. They could hardly be farther apart. Big Match-up coming. I predict cold temperatures in the NH with an occasional visit of polar vortex. Snow will occur rather than rain in a bunch of places…you can bank on this forecast! Your specificity is commendable.

It is possible that Astro's Mother of all Winters was just forecasted 1 year early. Note the quibble. I'm NOT wishing it true.

IT BEGINS. Plunging south right along that North-South Midwest vector. Definately early. My electric usage for September was the lowest in my 12-year record. Since usage is driven by AC demand, means cooler temperatures on average.
Forecast low for Oct 17 & 18 is 23F and 24F. That would be the lowest for any year for the first 18 days of October back to 1917 (23F). The record was 19F in 1895. New forecast low of 21F. That would tie 1890 and 1895.

Two cold nights. Watching the tender annuals and perennials wilt about their tops. The usual ... but early. Low tonight forecast at 22F. So ... doesn't quite break 1898 ... but stil nessles right down there with the 1880s. Our coldest recorded period, which is the very first of our recorded history. Not many here in the Dalton Minimum to speak of. Did record the New Madrid fault going off in the 1809-10 period. Snow above 40N further East.
Sending a message to "da Mann" to send some more CO2.

Calling for 19 or 20 here, that's cold this early. Going out now to double check antifreeze in some things.
