With respect to the ammonia comments above, I have been concerned about crop production shortly after the beginning of the Ukraine war. A lot of the world's fertilizers (not just Nitrogen) come from that part of the world. I think the crop in North America this year will largely be fertilized normally. There may be areas with shortages, but I think they will be small. Next year I am concerned about the cost of fertilizers in NA and availability globally. My first concerns were for South America. I am no expert but my understanding is the soils in Brazil and Argentina need a lot more inputs than ours do to maximize production.
According to my friend who works at the local Coop farmers are already getting grouchy about finances.
