And it only cost 63 years of total Russian GDP! (and a quarter million dead men)

The US doesn't want the conflict to end. Totally agree. Benefits are many in this conflict to US.

Wagner leaving the fight may have ramifications also.
Is that what is happening?

Quite alot of noise out there atm...must admit I'm slightly goading justme 😉 They're almost certainly handing control over to regular army, they may just be heading to rear to regroup, they may actually bug out entirely. This rotation would be normal for any army tho? If your force has been at front line for some time, r&r would occur. We'll see...

This message board has always struck me to be open to dissenting opinions. This thread on Russia-Ukraine is the exception. I don’t believe all the media reports – from either side, as it is typical of all war propaganda.
What is disappointing, however, is the bashing of dissenting opinions by members of this message board on both sides. Rather than bash a dissenting opinion, it is better handled in the manner that Graywolf’s differing opinions were handled (where the heck is that guy!), even if the dissent is more provocative in its presentation. I hope we can do that and keep the value I have received from reading this board for over 15 years.
My personal opinion on Russia-Ukraine is more along the lines of Col. Douglas MacGregor, which I have indicated previously, and which is basically that both sides are at fault and the war should be ended immediately to stop the senseless killing, and that the US should stop feeding the effort in a proxy war. My humble opinion is that the whole thing occurred because a lack of strong leadership, including the US.
I don’t get to participate as much as I would like in this community, but this is a community that I have enjoyed and learned a lot from. We all have opinions. Stating an opinion is fine. Bashing another member directly or indirectly with a dissenting opinion is not. Presentation of information is fine. Insisting it is accurate from any of our non-first-hand positions is not fine. I have my own reasons to believe some sources over others, as we all do. I respect the fact that others have their reasons to believe their sources over mine. It is healthy.
I initially came to this message board (includes the original board) seeking the truth about global warming. I was concerned that we WERE potentially destroying our world and that glaciers were melting as evidence. It was because of rational explanations and sound evidence presented that began to change my mind, not demeaning criticisms that “my side” was wrong. It was all done in a very welcoming and positive manner. I simply ask to welcome dissenting opinions on all subjects, including Russia-Ukraine, and let us all always question to continue critical thinking. We may not agree. We may not be swayed. But it is important to always consider the other side in the event we miss something.

Yeah....mebe not.... You're often wrong Justme, but are you trying to set a record in how quick you are?? Multiple reports Wagner took Khromove today. This is the settlement directly west of Bakhmut. Further reports of advances towards Ivanivske. Almost everything I have said in this thread, has been spot on. Meanwhile all of your posts have been full of propaganda and disinformation devoid of reality.
