Thinking about going to Lorient, FR for the Interceltique Music Festival (8/3-8/14) and as a base to explore Britanny. One of the last Celtic remnants on the continent. Could be interesting, We think we've found one direct YDNA link to Northeast Italy - the Apennines. Timing of the SNP split possible to Near-BC times. That would possibly provide a link through Rome to NW England. A Z56 Alpine Celt in a dominant L2 Celtic area. Don't know the genetic mix of Britanny exactly, but there was apparently a big flow of Britain Celts back to "Britanny" across the times of the Saxon invasions. Lots of L2 probably, but might be surprised. Some cousins perhaps. YDNA gets around.
The coastlines look to be open Atlantic marvelous. Caesar was pissing and moaning about the Bretons during his conquest. Anybody else who wants to, come along.  The Breton clans are gathering. |
