Can't get this tune out of my head
That's a good album. I've been rebuilding some old Cerwin Vega speakers and buying vintage amp/preamp and a 1986 NAD 4300 receiver to try to get to hear that pre-Youtube sound again. But I also bought a DAC to plug into the preamp so that I can hear Internet music played over a proper system. I'm not trying to get back to analog (I didn't) but I'd like to hear something better than these desktop speakers.

I have old vintage Pioneer speakers from the 1970's. They weigh about 55# each. When I play 1812 Overture, the whole house shakes.
My stero system is vintage, and I have found no good reason to update it. As you stated, speakers today don't emit the sound quality of past speakers.

I still have my component stereo from college (early 1970s) A Pioneer 626 receiver, 2 Acoustic Research table top loudspeakers, and a manual Dual turntable. You may say "Boomer please!" but when I spin my vinyl collection on that setup I swear I get a better, richer, sound than on any of my digital systems. And I can sit back while listening to Surrealistic Pillow and still see Cynthia Brandt smoking a joint in the chair opposite me whilst I smile because I know the night will end well since my roommate went home to see his parents that weekend.
