As usual, the MSM hasn't read the Constitution, notably the 10th Amendment. "Texas nationalists have for years pushed for a referendum on Texas secession, despite the fact there is no provision for a state to secede in the U.S. Constitution."
There doesn't NEED to be a provision to secede, since there is nothing in the Constitution that says a state CAN'T secede, the right automatically falls to the states or the people. Since the referendum in question would call for the people to vote, both bases are covered.

Could they talk Florida into joining and operate like East and West Pakistan in 1947? Countries with non-continuous land but with a water connection have worked before.
If Texas did secede I'd expect a referendum in Oklahoma next, thought I don't have a clue which way that would go.

I'm not a military man. But seems to me that "they" (not the mouthpiece) are deliberately overplaying Putin's ground force capability. Even if (likely) that Russian troop and material casualties are overstated, Russia may "soon:" run out of convict cannon fodder. And the as-yet minimally(?) drafted ethnic Russian heartland may not be overly excited about an attempt to overrun Europe ... and the casualties that would likely entail. Me thinks that the Poles alone might create mass casualties in the Russian ranks in conventional warfare. They remember what happened the last time Russian armies swept through (and German). And they alone are tough little bastards. WWII Polish partisans gave the Germans hell. And we haven' even mentioned the rest of NATO eastern Europe. They are of a tougher mindset than the soft NATO core. And they remember what Russian rule was like. "Never Again" does not just apply to the Jews.
While there may be bits of truth in their threat, I do not believe that we can trust the leadership of our military industrial complex. They do not have our best interest at heart.

I don't quite trust him yet either. But Trump has some 'splaining to do. I want to know why he poisoned my parents and sister with his "beautiful vaccines". His moment in history, the job was to protect the people.

His moment in history, the job was to protect the people. I do not suffer the illusion that Trump is some kind of saint. But if he simply stated that he overestimated the ethics of 'some' in the medical profession, I would probably buy it. How often has 'first do no harm' become 'first check the bank account'?

With respect to Covid I give politicians a bit of leeway up until Omicron. It was immediately clear the crisis was over when it emerged and the quote from the doctor in South Africa said it all."this is the vaccine we have been looking for"
Omicron was extremely low risk to the population and the mRNA vaccine had little impact on it also.
