Just to keep things in perspective, the median household income of Mexico is higher than that of China, according to Bing AI. Don't need much income in China. I think you just moved the goal posts Sig lol. I'm no longer sure what we are debating. It doesn't take much money to live in most of Mexico either. At the end of the week, the average American can buy MUCH more gold than the average Chinese. It's not even close.

Why is China so Obsessed With Food Security? 13 September 2022 ukragroconsult.com/en/news/why-is-china-so-obsessed-with-food-security/China is obsessed with food security. You might not realize just how obsessed: stockpiling rapidly, by the end of the year China – with its 20% of the world’s population – is projected to have accumulated and stashed away some 65% of the world’s corn and 53% of the world’s wheat. They are obsessed with food security because it is the most likely way the population rises up against the communist party. Apparently African Swine Fever is making a comeback in China and the last time it happened four years ago it was not pretty. This could be the death nail for many nations on the brink of not having enough food. The last time China had an outbreak of ASF they locked down the export of phosphate to keep at home.

Corn stores for a short period of time compared to wheat. They'll eat the corn first. Then send 3 million men to help Russia clean out Ukraine.

They can rotate the stock through Sig.
Ultimately this is a picture about buffer stocks and perceived risk that they the CCP has.
I think the Napoleon comment, an army marches on its stomach and without food we are 24hrs from anarchy, mixed in with the CCP's paranoia leads this way.
Food prices may well rise so could yield a profit as well.

All Hedgemons want to be the Big Dog. They may share the bone at times ... or convince themselves that they are sharing the bone ... like Mussolini. But I don't think that any Russian is ever just going "to give" Siberia (half of Russia) to China. In the best-luckiest of all possible Worlds, China "might" be able to seize Siberia (or parts), they have resource-logistics problems. Xi is NOT a Ghengis Khan. When they get tired of suffering, the Chinese people have a long history of periodically trashing the ruling dynasty. While Brandon may not always know what day it is (my opinion), he is not in charge ... and those that are, are not going to roll over and play puppy for the other hedgemons. As for Taiwan, that 100 mile moat might prove difficult when those feisty Nationalists start tossing small airburst nukes at the fleet. Yeah, yeah, I know. They used to say that Israel didn't have nukes either. Other than that ... great science fiction.

The TikTok buzz today is that lots of Chinese nationals are sneaking across the southern border. The feds apprehended about a dozen or more, probably many more made it. All military aged men.

China's doing the things Japan once did but they have a lot more people.
Since this chart was put together a few years ago China has pretty much followed the projection while Japan has fallen to about 4% of the world's GDP per the IMF.
I just read in an automobile magazine that the Teslas built in China are of noticeably better quality than those built in the US Tesla plant.
JPMorgan has recently bumped their China growth estimate up from 5% to 6.5% for this quarter.
I wouldn't follow your lead here and shower pity on China.
I would have to disagree. The Japanese build quality. Quality cars, electronics and other manufactured goods. The Chinese build shit. The Japanese fully embraced democracy and capitalism and did not build cities to nowhere. The Chinese government is not one elected by the people nor do they fully embrace democracy. I don't shower pity on the Chinese. They are a good, hardworking people. I just don't embrace their communist government. You say you don’t like China because it is a Communist country.
There are 80 million privately owned businesses in China. 50 million are registered with the government. There are over 50,000 foreign-owned companies operating in China including Tesla. They have a capitalistic economic system (private ownership of capital goods).
Wikipedia says “Communism is a left-wing to far-left sociopolitical, philosophical, and economic ideology within the socialist movement, whose goal is the establishment of a communist society, a socioeconomic order centered around common ownership of the means of production, distribution, and exchange that allocates products to everyone in the society.”
China is no longer a Communistic country. They were in the early 1980’s. They shifted to capitalism and their world GDP percentage is sky-rocketing. China has shaken off the shackles. By the way, I’m not pointing this out because I’m cheering for China.

By the way, I’m not pointing this out because I’m cheering for China. Maybe you did not get the memo. China is ruled by the CCP which stands for Chinese Communist Party. They shifted to a pseudo style of capitalism that they allow to exist as long as it does not buck the CCP. They are not a capitalistic system. Certainly not by the classical definition of the term. Websters defines Capitalism as: noun an economic and political system in which property, business, and industry are controlled by private owners rather than by the state, with the purpose of making a profit. That is a huge difference from "a socioeconomic order centered around common ownership of the means of production, distribution, and exchange that allocates products to everyone in the society.” I don't know maybe their form of communism associates as capitalism. In this day and age you never know...

Duwayne were never going to agree on this topic so let’s just refer to the Chinese economic system as “Woke Capitalism “!
