the goal of all established capitalists is to defeat the open market with barriers to entry.
As such the regulator needs to resist the attraction of getting into bed with the lobby.
Witness the Democrats and tech, farmers with subsidies for rubbish programs like alcohol production for fuel and the biggest example Nazi Germany and those massive corporations that loved WW2.
There are many other examples fresh from the Covid con.

On the physician production side, the AMA has a past (20+ years ago) effort to manage medical school size to prevent the sort of physician surpluses seen in the legal field with unemployed attorneys."

Perfect example Walnut.
We must never confuse those action with a "market economy" or "Capitalism" it's more akin to racketeering and the mafia.
I call it out all the time and the left have most often found the reward of playing with these groups very hard to resist.
The teachers unions are a massive world wide con and fully entrenched in the Socialist overthrow.

com·mu·nism noun a political theory derived from Karl Marx, advocating class war and leading to a society in which all property is publicly owned and each person works and is paid according to their abilities and needs.
cap·i·tal·ism noun an economic and political system in which a country's trade and industry are controlled by private owners for profit, rather than by the state.
The two are not compatible. Communists want control of trade, industry and it's population. Capitalists want private owner ship and the fruits of their labor. In China the zero covid lockdowns and recent demonstrations have the people in the cross hairs of their dictators. It will not end well.

Unfortunately it is clear from the definition that America’s ruling class is dominated by Communists 😕

China is taking totalitarianism to the next level during the lockdowns. Welding doors shut on apartments to keep people in. Using drones with barcodes to track movements. Setting up giant internment camps made of shipping containers for covid detainees. Horrible regime.

Clearly public ownership of capital goods is not the same as private ownership of capital goods. What is China's approach?

They the Chinese are donkey deep both ways. the state is into "private" companies a lot.
More generally the only difference between state and private ownership of the productive portion of the economy is what is defined as "profit". companies are mostly interested in money profit and the state is interested in power.
The whole CAGW is a case in point. The starting point should be if we have a problem which process will be the most cost effective to resolution. Wind solar and electric transport would fail every time if compared to adaption etc. There in lives the problem "Socialism" is the highest "power" form of Government and any discussion about cost is fruitless, or pointless.

Not only do I believe this, but I have believed this since February 2020. I believe the western governments of the world have all known this since late 2019 and are all complicit in the shutdown of the world in a desperate attempt to limit the spread.

Are you sure they wanted to limit the spread? A whole lot of money and authority headed their way over the last 3 years. I didn't see anyone turning the money down. The concentration of power only works when the serfs let it work. Even in China we may be seeing the limits when the serfs are sufficiently pissed off. They may have grabbed ahold of the wrong puppy. Even in Iran the serfs are revolting against the forces of the Great Satan. What goes around comes around. www.washingtonpost.com/world/2022/12/04/iran-morality-police-suspended-mahsa-amini-protests/

I think they were in panic because of the unknown mortality rate of the virus. Then “Don’t let a good crisis go to waste” opportunities kicked in. I certainly could be wrong and how will we ever know the truth… Truth is dead. Men are women, illegal aliens are immigrants, obese slobs are beautiful, criminals are victims and honest, hard working tax payers are the problem….but I digress.
