I don't like that, the gov't shouldn't be picking winners and losers. And if there was a tax credit, it shouldn't be more than the cost of a 12 year old Toyota Camry, which if in decent condition barely pollutes and does not impose all the additional costs of production. Manufacturing cars and batteries is not a "green" thing to do if it can be avoided by economizing.
