When MacDac bought Boeing with Boeing's money a lot of people said it was The End. In the short term, they were wrong.
When Boeing was years late delivering the 787 a lot of people said it was The End. In the short term, they were wrong.
When the 787 was grounded by every regulator in the world that matters a lot of people said it was The End. In the short term, they were wrong.
Myself, I think the real problem was moving Corporate HQ from Seattle (near most of Boeing's major manufacturing sites at the time) to Chicago (where Boeing builds... nothing).
Boeing has unbelievable momentum. I left because I didn't see it lasting *20 more years*. I was fairly sure at that point it would last at least five more. There's still a few years left on my "still going" clock.
Boeing is also potentially "too big to fail". I could easily see the .gov (especially under a Dem) rescuing Boeing from bankruptcy because of (admittedly, somewhat legitimate) defense needs.
I certainly recommend against buying their stock, but I wouldn't short it either.
