I have been impressed with him as well and I agree with much of what he says. But firing 75% of the federal workforce is just not realistic. He is a modern day Ron Paul, and like Ron Paul he has about a zero percent chance of being elected. Best home for him is if he is picked as Trumps running mate. Actually if I thought that he really would do that, I would probably vote for him. Vivek sounds like a young Dot.com entrepreneur / con artist. He sounds like that because that is what he is. A fast talking smart kid with no actual substance. I'm not fooled. I sincerely hope that something better comes along. If I thought he would fire the RIGHT 75% of the Federal workforce I wouldn't just vote for him, I'd campaign for him.
However, what I have seen of him to date aligns with walnut.

VDH is correct and his references to the French Revolution would serve as a warning but most people couldn’t tell you anything about the French Revolution beyond the plot of a Broadway play.

The tempo seems to be rising. The following is the second ad I've seen for companies selling "emergency" medicine kits. Precious metals like ammo are also hard to find.

Never, Ever, Under ANY Circumstances. There are many good Muslims individually. I have met them. But as a group ... YOU DO NOT WANT THEM AS PERMANENT HOUSE GUESTS. They have a collective consciousness that we do not want.

Maybe I am naive but I don't think we are in the middle of a revolution. In my opinion the civil strife was worse during the Vietnam era. We were certainly more divided before/during the civil war. The liberal hippies of the 1960's evolved into Reagan Republicans. The pendulum is constantly swinging back and forth. If there is a revolution I think it is more on a worldwide level with the BRICS and some of the developing nations challenging the old world order. Years and years of overspending have left us weak economically. Nations like China, Russia and India are smelling blood in the water and want a piece of the prosperity the United States has had since WWII. The worlds reserve currency status has been coined an "exorbitant privilege". And I think we have taken it for granted for too long. Every nation in the world has to put up a barrel of oil to get a good old one hundred dollar bill. We just have to print it. The war in Ukraine put a strain on us. The war in Palestine will likely tax us, especially if it spreads and the Arabs actually threaten Israel in a meaningful way. A war in Taiwan or some other Black Swan event could break us...

Genetically induced insanity? Theologically induced insanity. It is not that individuals are dramatically different. My observations suggest that they aren't. I also agree with Acid's observation that you find the "same general cast of characters" wherever you go. These characters operate within the social structures they find themselves in. Thesis: The values and actions of people in tightly-structured religious societies, are directed towards reflecting those of the dominant accepted religious icons and values. Whether you are religious or not, compare the documented actions of Mohamed and Jesus. Followers of both conquered large parts of the World. One in absolute agreement with its prophet ... the other seemingly in spite of its prophet. The fundamentalists in each society set the standards for acceptance. In Christian-dominated societies, if you disagree with a fundamentalist religious position, chances are reasonably good that they will just pray for you. In the other case, statistically, they may just kill you. There is seemingly much less tolerance for differences from the norm. Operating norm: If in doubt don't.
Certain "Woke" elements of our society seem intent on implementing similar restrictive thoughts and behavior based on their own theology.
We seem to be somewhere in number 4 below ... hopefully headed for number 1. We don't need any non-native theologically induced insanity. We have plenty of our own to handle.
“Hard times create strong men, strong men create good times, good times create weak men, and weak men create hard times.” (G. Michael Hopf).

thehill.com/opinion/technology/4311682-the-link-between-tearing-down-hostage-posters-and-the-pandemic/"I have a theory. This is a symptom of our post-pandemic world, where people who became accustomed to a daily life devoid of IRL (in real life) interaction, endlessly scrolling, becoming radicalized by social media, are no longer able to carry themselves in public like normal human beings should. They’ve been infected by something deep — a brainwashing of the digital world — and simply never emerged on the other side of Covid with the ability to adjust back into a society that exists in the real world." I think the author is on to something. "But the actual “Long Covid” — the real lasting pandemic effect — is how it’s made some of us even less connected to each other and less able to function in the real world." How much reality is there in the digital world? When you fill it with filters so even when having digital face to face conversations you can be seen to be sitting on The Simpsons' couch? Or give yourself a dog nose and ears? When a large percentage (I won't claim to know how large) of the pictures you see are photoshopped, many obviously so, how easy to assume everything is fake... or at least everything you want to be fake is fake? I've always been into SciFi and Fantasy books. In general (NOT always) in my youth they had a positive tone. The future had problems, sure, but overall it was a better place and we could overcome those problems. Today I see dystopian futures dominating, even in the "good" stuff. Is it hard to connect with the idea of a brighter future? I know I have less hope for the future than I did when I was young.

If a large portion of the nation systematically rejects most of the principles under which it prospered, what is likely to happen?
